Canocorn---Thanks for the heads up. Is this a 50 team showcase that will be a mixture of 16u,18u and 18u golds? How will they determine who gets in?

I heard they are working on something over July 4th weekend. Not sure if that is true or not. But I am glad that they are limiting teams, and not just using it as fundraiser. Looks like 5 games guarantee, all at Midwest, no traveling to other crappy fields where the scouts dont show up.

Canocorn, could not agree more this appears to be a legitimate showcase and not a fundraiser, which is just what the area needs. My wish for this being a summer showcase is at least local teams are fairly well set with rosters. After nationals and the massive roster movement some teams that are in existence now may not even be around come next October or team talent may be compromised. According to the web site, teams have to have an application in by July 1. That said, a well run showcase with a number of Indiana and other midwest colleges showing up to view local talent is long overdue and I applaud Team Akadema for the effort.

And it appears that the Midwest Sports Complex will still be in existence in 2009. That's good news. I like that facility and it's too bad that someday it may be gone for good.

As of right now, Midwest is not going away. They (the city) has all the land they need at the current time. So what you see from them is as far as they are going.

My DD's organization has been participating in the "Monster Mash" at the Midwest Sports Complex for the past three years now. We love that facility! And the Mash has been growing in popularity each year. I believe there were over 60 teams in it this past October. I am glad to hear that the rumored closing has been put off.

Email from coach indicates that they added their first California team to the showcase. He said there might be a couple more that piggy this team from California.
