When to bail and find new team????

Someone once told me, and I agree, that as long as ND is satisfied with mediocre coaching they will continue to field mediocre teams. They often get outstanding players yet never seem to get out of the Big East tourney. From ones who are given much, much should be expected. JMHO

do we even wanna go there in regards to the Irish softball program......top notch facilities, good players, ect. ...Hey coach you may wanna recruit some pitching and defense,,!??

During the Fr. Malloy era at ND Lou had gotten the team to be bigger than the school itself. With Fr. Malloy, and his cronies, idealism of being a midwest Harvard, Yale, etc., this obviously didn't fit the mold he wanted. Mediocrity was needed in the football program, and with the BOT and Fr. Malloy both on the same page with what they wanted, Lou was forced out in '96.
Fast forward to about five years ago when Fr. Jenkins was brought in, and turnover started happening with the BOT, the attitude and importance with the program started to change.
Whether or not Kelly gets it done at ND, I don't know. I do know that winning starts at the top - not with the coach, not the AD (the jury is still out with "Happy Jack" Swarbrick), but with the leaders of the University. The people in the top positions once again place football as an important factor for the school. This will be the main reason that ND will soon start winning again.
BTW, college football schedules are in place anywhere from 3-7yrs in advance, it's a complete crap shoot on what SOS will be for that particular year once it rolls around.

I'm not sure what to think of your leadership beliefs. There is so much disconnect between top-level college football programs and school/academic leadership, that is hard to draw a correlation between school leadership and successful football teams.
You're correct about schedules. They are done many years in advance.
