Need help finding IHSAA rules!

by Mavrick67 » Wed Mar 10, 2010 9:07 am

My dd is a freshman in high school and we are unclear about the rules surrounding school ball and contact with her travel team. Can someone direct me to the written policies on this matter?
Can she watch her travel team play if they are at the same tournament in which her sister is playing? Can she go to a team member's birthday party? I would like written documentation regarding the policies. Thank You for any Info!

Best advice - go have the AD make a ruling on it

The rules are here: http://www.ihsaa.org/dnn/LinkClick.aspx ... d&tabid=91

I HIGHLY recommend getting an interpretation on any of this you read. There are a lot of little nuances that most AD's don't even know. Anyone remember the Football debacle three years ago where teams postponed games until Monday because the by-laws stated under certain circumstances the IHSAA would grant them a waiver to play Monday? And when they contacted the IHSAA state, yea, it says that, but we don't grant waivers. It cost some teams 1/4 of their Football revenue (gate/concessions) by losing that home game. That's a huge bite.

My opinion is that she can watch them play, she can attend a birthday party, so long as there is no Softball activity. We are currently "in season". Basically that means you can not play/practice with any non-school team.

1.Always look cool
2.Never get lost
3.If you get lost, look cool
