Maybe at 12u, but not at the older age groups. Matter of fact, I can't think of a "contenting" team that their best "all around" player is a pitcher at 16 or 18u. Not sure who you are watching. I would actually like you to name a couple for us.

My point is that in Cali, they all pitch (if not currently at some point in time and pitched well) even the best players on the team. And I maybe be misreading you (and if I am I appologize), but if you think the number of talented players in Indiana compares to California, it just aint so, look at any D1 roster.

To add, I know of several lower D1 coaches and lower that recruit several pitchers (8-9) and convert them to non-pitching rolls. Now do you think they would be able to adjust if they had only pitched? I unerstand, trust me. I worry everytime my pitcher is on base or at bat or covering third with a 6 ft. monster coming in for a bang-bang play (12u or high school), but if a kid can hit, throw or run how do you set them down?
