It's my humble opinion that a team should not even be on a list until they perform well at States or Nationals. Every year we see teams "highly ranked" yet do nothing when it counts.

There is a reason that the same teams (like Lakewood, Victory, Corona) consistenly perform well at the big tournaments and there is a similar reason why the others often or always choke at those same tourneys.

March doesn't matter...nor does Fresno... nor do friendlies... what really matters is how you practice and prepare when no one is watching.

Can anyone explain the difference between Lakewood Red, Black, White and any other colors or shades they come in? I'm new to this and a bit confused...

Thanks,

From what I can tell....
The White team is the 93 team that's been playing up at 16's but is really 14. The Black team are 94's and are the team that came in 2nd at 12's last year. The Red team is also 94's, and is mostly rostered from the So Cal Bomber (from last spring 12U) team out of San Dimas area... They're using this team(red) also as a "funnel" or farm team for the Black team.

if they (lakewood) are using the red team as "funnel" club for blacks, they are doing a good job looking at the scoreboard...5-4 over oc wildcats (come from behind) and then 1-0 over irvine sting...there could be three lakewood teams in midland if they keep developing this "funnel" team...kudos to arajo

I always thought that Bomber team last spring was alot better then anyone gave them credit. I thought the RH lead off hitter on that team was one of the best in So-Cal. She wasnt very tall, but she carried a BIG stick(catylyst I believe). Everytime I saw that team that kid hit the ball hard, aqnd everytime I talked with people at the bigger friendlies and tourneys, the Bombers werent there....

On the other side of the coin, I also thought they(the Bombers team) played a little dirty... ex: routinely (as a team) sliding (feet 1st) into the inside of 1st base (making contact up F3's ankle) on close infield ground ball plays.. thought that was bulls%$ and some of you may remember that thread on the old site... I also didnt like that it was on command from the first base coach with a keyword..

Good luck to all the LL's... And if Red makes Midland w.o traveling out of state, it will be a great accomplishment..

looks like they brought on a new coach and some players from last years team...im sure if they fly lakewood colors, they practice/play arajo-ball, they will as successful as white and black...well have to keep an eye out...looks like they play more quality games this weekend...
