Don't know much about Jeremy Batchell but Forrest is an outstanding coach. Prior to this year, he coached in the SD Aztecs & Cruisers org. Also has some college experience with SD State. He definitely knows what he's doing and has a good rep. My daughter played for him and still considers him one of her favorite coaches. Also a good guy off the field.

My daughter played for the 14U head coach Patrick Trampus in Ramona. He is very knowledgeable and great with the kids. His dedication to the sport is second to none.

Good Luck

Jeremy Bachtell is an outstanding coach. His teams are scrappy and always fundamentally sound. He seems to set high expectations for the girls and hold them accountable, but still allow them to have fun. We have been playing his teams for the last 4 or 5 years and Jeremy, Joaquin, the kids and their families have been a class act. I would allow my daughter to play for him, for sure. Good luck.

I have heard the 12U team is coached by Jeremy Bachtell which so far his credentials are excellent also coached by Forrest Levinson (hitting coach) who has checked out to be top notch. This team won Monster mash last year and so far looks to be in top 5 in so cal.

Interesting post. Putting aside subjective opinions, here are some facts to consider:
1. "Won Monster Mash last year." The actual results of the Oct 2012 12u Monster Mash: co-champs Cal Cruisers-Orrantia and SoCal Breakers-Steele. (The coaches former team, SD Aztecs 00, did win a TCS Dec. 2012 tournament in San Diego. That team was ranked in a Fall Heybucket poll between 15 - 20. That team, less some players including loss of#1 pitcher, became Mystics.)
2. "Top 5 12u Team in SoCal." Not sure where this information would have come from. This Mystics team has not been ranked on Heybucket this season - for what that's worth. Reviewing the results for top 12u tournaments this season, either did not find this team or did not find it finishing in the top echelon. Did not find any posts about this team being in top 5 or a "top" 12u team.

i don't know to much about san diego travel teams except the big name org. (TNL, powersurge, renegades, etc.) but i did happen across this mystic team in orange county while watching my neice play and they where fundamentally sound and a good hitting team. it seemed like they had alot of people rooting for them but not sure if that was just because of who they where playing and people tend to root for the underdogs but from talking to parents they played a good weekend of softball and can compete with the top teams in the division

JustPlaytheGame "Lawyered" this string. The initial post had info that was just dead wrong.

However, my knowledge of Jeremy is all positive. The only reason my daughter didn't play for him was proximity to his fields. He's a positive guy with a team of girls that will fight hard for him. He's a coach of fundamentals with a focus on the future success of the girls.

But before choosing a team, you should call coaches and arrange tryouts with every team in your area. That's the way you find the fit that is best for your daughter.
