You seem to have issues with a dad who was coaching an American Athletics team (based on your previous posts about AAs teams/org). As for AA's, they have been a class organization for a long time and will continue to be for a long time. And no, my kid doesnt play for AAs; its just an observation from years of playing travel softball.
Dads have been coaching for a long time too. Heck, look at some of the top 12/14u teams, including FC and OCBB teams for example:
Victory USA 98 = dad coaching with kid on team (National Champs how many times?)
OCBB-Espalin = dad coaching and mom with kid on team
OCBB-Briggs = dad coaching with kid on team
FC- Sota = dad coaching with kid on team
FC-Kay = dad coaching with kid on team
FC-Brashear = dad coaching with kid on team (National champs)
etc, etc., etc. .....
So what's your issue about dads coaching a team? Some end up being good at it, others give it a try then give up, and yes, some just keep on going even though they probably should have given it up a long time ago. Everyone has a different reason for starting out coaching, but what difference does it make why?
I will say that something that we learned with DD # 1, even if you are a good dad/coach, do your kid a favor and give her the chance to play for someone else. Even if your kid is a stud player, she will be better off having to listen to someone else, respect the coach, and "truely" earn playing time. It has been said many times that the toughest position for any player is being the coach's daughter.
So to all the dad coaches out there: Thanks and keep up the hard work, but find it within yourself to one day let DD go play for another coach.
