Top 16U Teams in So Cal

by BallGame » Thu Nov 13, 2008 11:12 am

I was just wondering who the top 16U teams are in the area. I see all the post about 12U & 14U, but nothing on the 16's. Do they not matter??

It's not that they don't matter, it's just that the scores don't mean much now.

I personally have found that with my girls moving up in age, all the hub bub about whose beating who in friendlies just isn't as important as to how well are the girls performing in the showcases, and are they getting their letters out.

From your experience which local colleges are showing up (So Cal) to these showcases. My DD has just told us that she wants to stay local for college and doesn't really want to go out of state.

Agree. After 14's most parents are over the "who's the top team" jazz (Except Nor Cal who still have lively Gold threads).

I just thought with all the showcase's going on, some teams would stand out more than others. I figured that most teams would try to get a solid core together now before they go dark for high school.

Our experience in 16U's this year has been much different than the past 2 years in 14U's....16U's have been very business like, routine almost....Very mellow, coaches talking to each other, parents saying HI again, getting all the girls plenty of playing time.....Dare I even say it's been kind of......well......FUN???

OC Batbusters should be at the top of any list.

Okay you are putting OC Batbusters out there, who else is looking promising?? I see the OC placed 5th at Nationals. Are they returning as a 2nd year 16 or did they all move up to 18? Like I said with so little time to get ready and qualify for nationals after high school, who is looking good now? If you started playing in Sept., you would have a good 5 months to get you team together.

From the showcase games I've seen over the past 6 weeks here's my opinion. Based purely on talent not overall performance in a showcase.

In no particular order:
So Cal Athletics 16U
OC Batbusters 16U
Firecrackers 16U
Team Smith 16U
Victory USA 16U Gabe
Fury 16U
Corona Angles 16U

Hopefully they all qualify and make a good showing at Nationals. They are all pretty good teams.
