My tongue is gone. My daugthers Varsity team consists of 3fr, 5soph, 3Jrs, 1sr. The coach ran all the seniors off. To me she is not a coach. Her practices are the worst, if you want to call them practices. She hits ground balls and fly balls and that is fielding practice. Hitting practice is one pitcher one catcher and a single line of girls waiting to hit off of her.

Its not the best player plays its who kisses up plays. We have 3 pitchers, 1 who pitches most games. Of the other 2 she pitches the freshman more. The Sophmore is really good and pitched several x's last year, and won many games for them. But since she is not the kissing up type she sits. The catcher who has taken over for the other catcher this yr is horrible. She is no catcher she is an infielder. She is so bad that she can never get the outside strike because of the way she frames the ball. In order for her to frame it she uses two hands (wish I had a picture for u). So the pitchers have to pitch everthing over the middle or inside and when that happens there goes the ball, we lost 18-7 yesterday. The first baseman misses so many balls under her glove or drops its she is not taken out. She would rather play 3rd but the coach wants her to play 1st so she doesn't have to use the better 1st baseman.
Since the coaches parents are well conected to the school, there is no way she is leaving. She knows this and this is why she knows she can do anything she wants.
Theres more but why waste your time. This is our HS coach!

I hear you on that and what is even crazier is that the coach probably has no idea how bad they are.

Ode to the High School Softball Experience

Pain, despair, agony on me
I cannot get excited, I'm in constant misery
The coach doesn't have a clue and he surely aint respected
He's just a dumb*ss, but that's to be expected!

Pain, despair, agony on me
Where in the world did he get his philosophy?
I can't stand to watch, cause he has no clue at all
It sure would have helped if he actually played softball!

Pain, despair, agony on me
My daughter can't remember why she tried out for this team
The coach keeps instructing her just how to hit and throw
But doesn't seem to get that he don't know what he don't know!

Pain, despair, agony on me
The season's almost over and that's just great by me
My daughter's just beaming that her pain will end real soon
And as for her high school coach, he'll still be a baffoon!

High School sports are a great opportunity to play with friends and represent your school. Most schools have no control of the quality of their players, they just take the girls who come out to play. There isn't a long line of coaches waitng to sign up either. How many can be off aat 2 PM every day for little or no pay.
As a result; some teams and coaches are terrific, others average and many are horrific. The best thing to do about horrible situations is to make them teaching opportunities for everyone involved. Daughters can learn to florish in difficult situations. Parents who can easily be part of the problem can become part of the solution. It is no surprize that parents who become part of the solution have more fun and their kids are more successfull.

Being miserable is a choice.
Instead of whining and complaining, try to enjoy watching your kid compete...
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.
