Bracky's Best of Best 14U Tournament: Thank You & Results

[bracketologist]

I just wanted to thank everyone for participating in the “Best of the Best” Tournament.

Special thanks to Leslie & Michael who served as tournament directors and to FC Sota for hosting and taking care of the snack bar and fields; and to NumerUno for updating the games on Heybucket.

Congratulations to FC Sota and FC Brashear for making the finals and to American Pastime and So Cal Breakers for a great semi-final game.

Order of finish

1st - Firecrackers Sota (3-0)
2nd – Firecrackers 98 Brashear (3-1)
3rd - American Pastime 97 Ramos (3-1)
4th – So Cal Breakers 97 Imoto (1-2)
5th – Power Surge 97 (2-1)
5th - Firecrackers 97 Blanco 97 (3-1)
7th – OC Batbusters 97 Ybarra (2-2)
7th - So Cal Athletics (2-2)
9th - Corona Angels Lockman (1-2)
13th - Double Play 98, San Diego Aztecs, Victory USA 98 Campbell, TNL Balzer (0-2)

Don’t let the order of finish fool you - there were no bad teams at this tournament and I’m sure the 8 teams that are not currently qualified for PGF Nationals will make their presence felt in August.

For me - my goal is for Bracketologist tournaments to remain unique and be limited to 2-3 per calendar year; all tournaments should be based on the official Heybucket.com Poll and winners always earn some kind of award.

Lessons learned and wish list for future events:

1. Hold it over 2 days
2. Seek a venue with fences
3. Provide more Bracky balls beyond the games MVP (i.e., any player that hits a HR should have the option to keep the game ball)
4. Increase the list of participants to 24 teams – with at least 4 spots reserved for lower ranked or non-ranked teams to play their way in.

Again thanks for participating,
Bracky

PS. The outstanding behavior of all of the parents exceeded my expectations.
PSS. Ranked 12U teams might want to mark down June 2/3 on your calendars
