Sometimes rec teams will play some travel games to see how they stack up against the competition and then they go back and play rec to gain more skills and confidence.

I think just certain players, and/or positions should do this. but NOT the whole Team. and 10U and 12U's thats it. 14's and 16's NO! thats my take. Thank you.

Thanks for the info just gets frusterating when you have a short time to put together a all star team and some team rolls up thats been together for a yr or soo and asa doesnt want to ruffle any feathers and call these teams out on it either

so you're talking about stacked Allstar teams.... I've seen it before..... it is a bummer...

As long as no child of mine is wasting their time playing on a team like that, it's just not my concern. If they want to play at a level of competition that is a step below their skill level to win some hardware, that is THEIR issue.

If I'm coaching an all-star team that gets to face the aforementioned team, I actually see that as a bonus. We get to face better competition than you expect to see in all stars.

Same with teams that choose not to move up in the fall in hopes of winning some tourneys. I say good, I hope we get to play 'em. Face some bigger stronger kids. Thank you for helping us get better while you don't. Very unselfish of you.

Southern California ASA classifies any travel team (not drafted) as A, regardless if they are ASA champs, or can't hit their way out of a wet paper bag.
Rec league all star teams are classified as "B" or "C".

In 2005, our socal 10u all star team went to the Western B Nationals in San Antonio.
We were surprised to see some Texas travel teams playing.
We were told Texas teams petition their ASA commissioner as to what level they want to be classified, A or B.
