Premier Berths Available

by FL_Fastpitch » Fri Apr 01, 2011 9:07 am

April Fools!

We have 14 berths available for Premier (4-14u, 6-16u and 4-18HS) and only 1 team has begun the registration process so far. It appears none of the top teams in GA or FL are interested in going to Cali to play Premier. Consequently, we are reaching out to SoCal since they seem to be one of the few areas that have more teams interested in playing than berths.

Here's the deal: Begin the registration process for our qualifier and PM me with your top bid for a berth. On June 1, if we don't have enough registered teams to hold our qualifier, we'll first award berths to the teams that actually registered and then award any extra berths to the highest bidder(s).

I've heard many times about SoCal teams that were awarded ASA bids via qualifiers that they didn't have to actually travel and play in because no other teams entered the qualifier. But this is the first I've heard of berths being auctioned off. How enterprising of you.

Its also interesting that no one is interested in playing in the qualifiers, in light of the barrage of complaints last year that there were no qualifiers at all.

Damned if you, damned if you don't.

TCS in Deer Park is apparently not the only "pay-to-play" national event. As my DD's team is a prospective attendee to a Premier qualifier I would love to see a response from the PGF board about this.

I hope not, because it will interesting to see how it plays out. Imagine the fallout if a team can qualify for Premier tournament with a bid of, say $10, or a quarter. No softball required.

It could also be promoted as a great fundraiser, or a prize in a box of crackerjacks!!

Anyone from Georgia know if Georgia Impact's team that finished 2nd at ASA 14s will be attending a Premier qualifier?

The post about the Florida berths is a hoax, I assume brought on by the date. If there is an
area of the country that does not participate we will adjust the berths.

As to being unresponsive, I answer every inquiry I receive for Premier and Surf City. I do not read this forum too much as it is impossible to deal with all of the comments from all of the people, positive or negative. If you have a question send a message through the Premier website or to batbuste@pacbell.net and I will answer it as soon as I can.

As to the value at 14U, I guess we will see. There were MANY teams from most of the country that wanted a tournament in 14U, the games will be played on nice fields in a nice area and will have everything the other age groups have. The first year ASA did Gold it was 29 teams and they had to beg to get that many. As 16U and 18HS were last year, this is new and maybe some people will give us a chance before condemning our efforts.
