Where's our Refund?

by chatterbox » Fri Apr 23, 2010 10:15 am

Tournament was canceled due to rain in December and then rescheduled for January. January's date was canceled again due to rain. To date, many teams have not received refunds or returned emails/phone calls  .....How long should a team(s) wait for a refund if a tournament was canceled?

We are in the same boat with Darin Campbell and So. Cal Eliminators. I have had several promises and called his cell phone MANY times. Been promised a check, been promised a post dated check. I've been told City of Chino Hills was holding $$$. Was then told checks were being written by someone else. Was told "post dated" check was in the mail. TWICE. Was then told that "someone in the organization" had embezzled their money. I was again promised a check. Again, NO CHECK. I have now left four messages for a status update in the last week. No return call. I now see that AFA is allowing them to host 16/18 AFA states. This is ridiculous! I have resisted posting here about this as I was trying to give the guy the benefit of doubt. NOW they will be pulling the same on other teams. NO MORE. I will be glad to provide an address and phone number to anyone who wants to PM me about this. Please let me know who else is in the same boat.

Is So Cal Eliminators still an organization?????? We, too, heard that they were waiting for Chino Hills to return money for fields, then somebody from the organization embezzled money and we got the same post dated check song and dance. I, too, have written a note to myself and it says, "Never again will I/we play for this person/organization again"!!

Good question!!!! They must be in SOME form as AFA has found it to be prudent to have them host their version of STATES in the 16/18u division. Again, posting on other site asks entrants to make checks payable to SAME PERSON, that owes a number of teams $$$$. He even told me a month ago that he would pay once he started getting $$ from entries to the tournament he was hosting in JUNE. Sounds like trouble for those waiting ona refund AND those teams expecting to play in his next one. :o

December and still waiting? Sounds like someone is stealing from kids. No city would make a host team put that large of a deposit down for games never played when no expenses were incurred (lights, field maintenance, etc.). Call bull$hit on this guy and nobody should sign up for anything with this org. if no refunds are given back to these teams.

Sounds like a naming problem, and considering the time of year they collected fees, rather than "Toys for Tots" the organizers should have called it

"Toys for MY Tots"

Those bastards!
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

For anyone who might be thinking that these people are out of line in not returning the money they owe to the girls that are being cheated out of it...here's a link to his next attempt at ripping teams off.
