MVPETE - While I appreciate the vast level of travel ball coaching experience that you must have to make that comment, it's never appropriate to intentionally hurt a child. I'm not sure why you thing that coaching at a higher level of play affords any coach the right to endanger kids.
In my 10 years of coaching softball at all levels, including my two top five national finishes in 14U ('08 and '09), I called every pitch in every game and never called a pitch to intentionally hit a batter. So, maybe it's not lack of experience that gives me my perspective, maybe it's a belief that teaching good character to young ladies is more important than teaching revenge or payback.
It IS possible to play this game with integrity and sportsmanship and still be successful. I hope that someday all coaches see that.
You started your complaint by saying stealing pitch signs was shady, now you are talking about intentionally hitting batters. Please try and stay on point
