MVPETE - While I appreciate the vast level of travel ball coaching experience that you must have to make that comment, it's never appropriate to intentionally hurt a child. I'm not sure why you thing that coaching at a higher level of play affords any coach the right to endanger kids.

In my 10 years of coaching softball at all levels, including my two top five national finishes in 14U ('08 and '09), I called every pitch in every game and never called a pitch to intentionally hit a batter. So, maybe it's not lack of experience that gives me my perspective, maybe it's a belief that teaching good character to young ladies is more important than teaching revenge or payback.

It IS possible to play this game with integrity and sportsmanship and still be successful. I hope that someday all coaches see that.

You started your complaint by saying stealing pitch signs was shady, now you are talking about intentionally hitting batters. Please try and stay on point

WHOA.....hold on there....pitching signs....stealing pitching signs...did you read what I agreed with closer on?????

I do NOT think however they neccessarily are at much advantage once the new 2000 teams start forming throughout SoCal in late August. When the OC and IE girls come out of All-Stars, they will have around 20-30 games under their belt for the summer, will also have come from great coaching and pretty ready for travel not to mention there are travel teams now that are heavy on the 2000 side with 5-6 players on the roster. SM Blaze comes to mind and even Watley I believe has 4-5 2000's.

Thank You socaldude for the comments. I agree 100% that August its up to who gets who. Our team doesnt have any more advantage other then our players have played together for a bit longer but we also will be adding players to our roster and a complete 2001 team- which we are very excited about for the younger girls. I also have a daughter playing All Stars and there are great players coming to travel come August. As for Blaze and Watley they are Awesome teams. And will be Next year. I am sure Corona Angels will be another great team. I am very excited about next year. I think with the talent and teams it will be a very exciting time. As for who goes were after All Stars, I hope parents do home work. Find a good fit. Start looking at teams now and talking to coaches. Especially go look at some practices. Making the jump to travel is not easy and there will be alot of teams starting up for the wrong reasons. Just make sure you join a team that works for your goals. See everyone on the dirt

SoCal10UDude,
I have a question for you? Do you think some of the teams in the top ranking are hiding from some of the tougher teams in the bottom of your rankings?

StrikeForce is having a friendly this week and I’ve had a coach call and ask who’s coming…? I let him know but when I asked what team they are with they say were in the top 5 and they didn’t want to commit as of yet (I kind of doubt him now that I think about it).
I really think you should revaluate the teams not playing. Have some of these top teams tell us where there playing so that we can play them. My guess is that some of the top teams are having Rocky Balboa syndrome and are afraid to play those Clubber Lang teams :). Top 10U don’t take this the wrong but let’s play... I'll make sure we have 2 blue's on the dirt. Whats your thoughts SoCal10UDude?
;)
Thanks,

I think that is quite speculative. But what would a good 10U thread be without massive speculation !!!???? hahah. Good job !!!

I think teams going to Nationals i.e. teams ranked 1-7, 10 are really focusing on preparing their teams and probably the last thing Jynx, Bombers, FC, et. al. wants to do is drive 100-125 miles to Winchester and play each other again for the 30th time this season. They probably would be very interested in playing teams they haven't seen before that could provide them a good challenge to help prepare them for Nationals and not teams they historically beat 20-0 with the #3 pitching. This is a dfferent time of season with a different focus now and there is nothing for them to prove to the other SoCal teams, the final results and berths at ASA States "Res Ipsa Loquitur" and I am quite sure they haven't looked back.

The qualified 10u teams typically look to play friendlies against the 12u teams to prepare for nationals. I really doubt they are hiding from you

Agree with Dude and Tio Rico. Most Qualified teams will stay local from now til Tenn I believe you'll see the top 5 in BB Best of the West? Should be a good one.
