And I have been to a few bad friendlys. First the schedule was not thought out very well. It was changed more then four times, including the night before. Teams were playing back to back to back games with really no breaks. Teams had to travel cross country to play a back to back game. It was clear who ever planned this out was not thinking. Fields were not chalked or even taken care of. Well, Impact did prep the field they played on I did notice. Great host I say. The best part, during one of our games the pitching mound was not secure causing our pitcher to twist her ankle. Luckily she was ok. We ended up getting a mound from another team because Impact didn't have one and tried to use a mound with one post. I was very upset with the planning on Impacts part and clearly this team was more concern about making money. And we were not the only team upset with this friendly. I even heard umpires making jokes about the fields and the snack bar. The only positive thing I can say is the park was very nice and close to freeway. Nice job Impact!

Back to rec for you...!!!

1. It's called a friendly....
2. Coaches organize friendlies, they still have to coach. They hope that the parents will help out from the host teams, but there's not always enough hands..It's called, get off your ars and help instead of complaining...
3. Out to make money...?....Yea, they were rolling in the dough..after umpire and any field rental they probably made $50 a game..." you were robbed...call the police.."
4.Didn't have a proper "mound"...
In Vegas...they forgot to set up for 10U...the ump draws a line in the dirt and says lets go..." what's good for the goose...."
The CE coach had an extra one an puts it out there after each team does one from " the dirt"...
It's called...make adjustments and do the best you can...!!!

First I am sorry my sons play baseball so a mound may be incorrect, Pitchers rubber or plate. Whatever. Second my daughter has played with knuckle up for 2 years. So we have been to a few friendlys. Yes the fields are not always set up and I understand some teams can be very demanding so schedules can be hard. But having to revise it 4 times within a few days and sending out the last one late the night before is not smart. One team didnt even get it. As for playing 3 games in a row. Maybe good for mom and dad to get home but any girl 10 isnt wanting that nor is it smart for them. I do agree to keep the hosting team near the snack bar for parents, a friendly is a lot of work so expect it before you plan it. But when you host a friendly it is a fundraiser so you need to plan on missing your kids game. As for not making money on a friendly your an idiot. We have made well over a $1000 each time we do one and thats after cost for snack bar and umpires. Some teams make more then that. So pre planning to have fields racked or chalked a few times during a day isn't hard. Especially if you would like these teams back. Impact could have run this a little better. Dragging your own field each game and ignoring the other fields is not a well run friendly. For the ones standing up for this is safe to say your parents of Impact.

First I was at this friendly. I also have an older daughter who has been playing travel for some time now. Yes i agree the rotation of the teams from field to field was poorly planned. It should have been planned out better. The fields not being chalked or dragged also not good. As for people saying get use to travel as if you play on garbage fields that are never chalked or dragged, i feel bad for your team. As long as my older daughter has been playing I don't recall ever playing on garbage fields and if we did our coach never went back to that field. Even on this team in 10's we have always been to ok run events. As to playing 3 games in a row. Coaching wise hell No. Especially at 10. As for this friendly we agreed to it otherwise we had a 2 hour break which we didn't want to be waiting that long. But for our girls it was a very long day and by game 3 it was not the best. We will not do that again if we have the choice. As for my older daughter i prefer it. But I am not coaching that team and I prefer it for my own reasons. I will tell you she does not like it. Back to Impacts friendly, We hosted a friendly at the same fields a few months ago and yes it was not easy but we were able to get it done. Yes we had to revise the schedule and teams do back out. We even had an issue with a field which caused some changes. But we made sure we had people working on fields. Even all 3 of us coaches were chalking and helping out. We made alot of money during that friendly so we wanted to keep teams happy. Teams do make good money hosting friendlys. I like Impact so not sure what happen here. I do believe they got in over there heads. I do know if it was up to me we will think long and hard before we go back to a friendly run like that.

Yeah, it's much better to find out which kid is going to melt later in the year, like states or nationals.
You know, when you have to play 5 or 6 games in a row in the loser's bracket in 105 degree heat...
Normally you don't want them eating in the dugout, but for 3 back to backs, you make exceptions. They eat in the dugout. To sustain, not satiate. And you get home in time for a nap and some type of televised sporting event.

Jeez, did you demand valet parking as well?

and get some paragraphs going...I almost passed out reading your reply...

You obviously feel the need to complain since you, as said, posted the same post twice under 2 different names....

While you mave have some valid points, the main issue is that it is a friendly and things happen. The planning can always be better, but your complaints are minor ones that you issist on making a big deal...your choice...

While a friendly does make money, the main purpose is getting playing time...
Out of all the fund raisers we have done this year so far, the friendly raised the least while being the most amount of work..my point, not that it doesn't raise money...

Obviously the solution for you is to just play in Tourneys where the cost is double or more and if playing in another friendly make sure that the host team has everything perfect for your expectations...

I am not sure if you are responding to me or the other poster so I will answer,

First I am aware of what friendly's are for. The coach prefers friendly's since we have qualified for July and August already. It is also nice to get girls playing time in the infield when they normally do not, (like my daughter). So I like friendly's. The cost is also great when you are not hosting it. But if you are hosting it, it is pretty clear it is a lot of work and maybe we should plan for that. And I do not know many teams that host a 10 team friendly in hopes to get play time. Again if you do that it's usually about making money not playing games. Like Jynx who pulled out of thier own friendly to be able to handle it. Unless you are clueless. And with 10 teams you should have made well over $1000 dollars. So my point is maybe take time to take care of the teams coming in.

As for playing 3 games in a row I agree in tournaments it will happen if you suck. But to think a friendly was set up for teams to get ready to play in a losers bracket is smart thinking. Maybe lets set up friendly's to make teams happy and not plan to be losers. Let the coaches worry about getting ready long days. Its clear the parents of Impact are responding and I am sorry your coach planned this poorly. I am also sorry if you didn't make money with as many teams you should have. Maybe a sign your friendly was handled poor. As for our team I know we will not be back to Murrieta, Sorry. And I know 3 other teams that were there saying the same thing.

Sorry parents maybe stop being so blind and wake up your coaches. Don't get mad at me get mad at yourself. It was your team that ran this friendly. And so everyone knows, we have been to well over 20 friendly's and this was the only one that upset our team and pretty much every other team there. Unless you were there you would not understand.

Hey 99!....DUDE!....Just stop and let this go away....Where to start? Guess I'll just go in order...

1. Friendly's.....Incorrect.....Friendlies.....Correct!
2. Qualified for July and August? Qualified to do what? Play softball during those months?...We're in too....YES! :D
3. "I do not know of many teams that host a 10 team in hopes of getting playing time"...REALLY?...REALLY?...REALLY?...Go and play 50 FRIENDLY'S and 49 will have their own team playing in it...All obviously except for Knuckle Up because they do it the right way...
4. The whole 2nd paragraph...Here's a hint....Even GOOD teams might possibly, just maybe, just a chance, with a small percentage.....Have to play 3 games in a row in a tournament...Even in a winner's bracket...See ASA Nationals....You pick the year!
5. I understand that with your vast knowledge and experience of playing in 20 FRIENDLY'S you know much more than I do...What would you say if I told you that I had played in probably over 125 friendlies?...
6. I can promise you one thing...My team will never play in an IMPACT friendly this year and it has nothing to do with your post...Or am I one of THEM????????????????????????????????
7. Just take your ribbing like a good person with a sense of humor and let it go away....
8. See you at the July and August deal!

Good lord!
That's their team's real name?
I thought it was an April Fool's joke...
What was going on in that meeting when they were picking the name?
