12u team list

by Fastpitch4Life » Tue Nov 19, 2013 10:03 am

If Choppers Black got an invite, you know that Firecrackers - Thornburg and So Cal Athletics - Mercado will get an invite. Since OCBB Steele brought their berth in from another organization, it looks like the other OCBB teams will need to qualify.

As far as the rankings go, from what I have seen, Firecracker's - Thornburg are definitely the team to beat. Huge bats and good pitching will keep them in every game. Brenda Marsh will be a good test for the top teams.

Brenda Marsh Brackets are out and boy does it seem one sided. It should be some great softball unfortunately if everything plays out, Batbusters Steele, Firecrackers Thornburg and Athletics Mercado will all face each other first thing Sunday morning, in the 2nd and 3rd elimination game. Looks like Choppers Black should have a cake walk on the bottom 1/2 of bracket. It would be nice to keep 2 top teams on the top 1/2 of bracket and 2 top teams on the bottom bracket. Either way, Sunday morning should be some great softball right out of the gates!

Cake walk? You can't disrespect the teams that are there. Still have to play the games and it looks like there are quite a few good teams out there. Looking forward to playing.

I didn't see any posts about the Brenda Marsh tournament. What did those who were there see that surprised them or confirmed what we already know? The shortening of the tournament due to weather was obviously disappointing but what were some of the high points?

Where can we see the results? Was the tournament completely rained out? Assuming so, a little quiet after Brenda Marsh... Nothing about the 14's and 12's!!

the tournament was played. It actually wasn't modified that much. teams played one pool play and went straight to bracket play. in 12s, FC Thornburg beat OCBB Steele in the ship and in 14s OCBB Granado beat OCBB/TM. Here is the link to scores and finish order:

Getting ready to put together a 12u Top team poll for 2014. Even with rain affecting two of the biggest Tournaments in the Fall. I think most would agree that Firecrackers - Thornburg are clearly still the top team in So Cal. So Cal Athletics - Mercado and OC Batbusters - Steele , look to be the teams that have the best chance of beating the Firecrackers on any weekend. After that it is a toss up IMO. Alot of good teams in the 12u division that can beat any of the teams mentioned above. Interested to see what others think on who teams 4 - 25 are. Going to reach out to Coaches and Bucketheads who helped me put the 10u poll together. This will be the 1st 12 u Top Team poll for 2014 to include coaches and pollsters.

A couple of basic rules for new pollsters:

1. If you are a Fan/parent pollster you can submit your own ballot. Note: Newbie’s no need to stuff the ballot with “very interesting” ballots ( i.e. OCBB - Steele and Firecrackers - Thornburg ranked #24 and #25 ) as I will only count your ballot when you have established a history of sound judgment. For some this takes 1 poll while for others

2. Rankings should reflect the on the field performance of the team and should not take into any consideration a pollster's dislike for a particular coach.

3. If you have not seen a team play or don’t feel comfortable ranking a certain team – you should leave that team blank (we have a methodology that takes into consideration teams that have not been seen by many pollsters/coaches).

4. Please focus any comments on positive things or key insights (i.e., Team X has two major injuries that will hurt their offensive).

5. Ballot needs to be returned to me by Monday Dec. 30th

My #1 goal with the poll is to recognize as many players/teams as possible so please feel free to add new teams to your ballot. 8-)
