12U TOP TEAM RANKING (Bracketologist) Updated After STATE!

by Fun4All » Mon Feb 01, 2010 12:24 pm

Hmmmm... Grapettes of NorCal played each of the teams just mentioned this weekend, and... if I'm not mistakened... gave each of them a run for their money! This could quite possibly be a very interesting season ;)

true... no argument there... but not bad for a 1st tourney out of the gate since the turkey tourney in chino hills... couple of personnel changes... they hit the ground runnin' & just may shake some thing up

Have the Grapettes played the Salinas Storm 97 yet? Based on the team they had last year, that team's talent - would be equal to any of the top So Cal 97 teams. Probably asking too much to keep the core 6-7 players together (i.e., #1 pitcher, first 3 batters, etc) for two years.

Curious to see the new rankings. Any ETA on that?

This 12u Grapettes team has not had the opportunity to play Salinas Storm since it was assembled in August (picked up a couple & dropped a few since then) & the core of this team is made up of '98s. These 98s are ballers & to look @ this team, u wouldn't be able to pick them out from most any 97s. The Grapettes from last year are 96's and ALL aged up for Fall, and since the Coach went againt her norm of picking up all olders, look for some big things to come from this group of girls in this season as well as next year. BTW: #1 pitcher IS a 97 & is backed up by 2 very solid 98s.
So in summary, haven't played Storm yet, but should be a good contest...

Okay this is where I have to pull out my BullSh*t-O-meter out. We played them in pool play & yes they are a good team with good coaching. The pitcher can throw and keep them in most games. But I spoke with the head coach and I am pretty sure she told me they have 4, 98's on the team????

No offense taken @ all. At this level, it's all about developing these girls. They need to play against the best out there to accomplish that mission. There's absolutely NO complaints whatsoever about the pool they played in. They saw the BEST teams that were in the tournament based on Brackey's ratings.IMHO, it's gonna be an interesting season to see if these young athletes can continue to build on this.

Radar, what team are you with? Just curious since you said you played Grapettes. Have relatives that were there and saw Grapettes play. Said scores were 0-0 up to bottom of 4th in 3 of 4 games. Don't know who pitcher was. Must not have been too bad if games were that close. Someone posted scores on NorCal link, they lost to Team Anderson 0-1. Not to bad since Team Anderson won tourney. Good team!
