A team chant is hardly what they will need to get used to.

Have you been to a Cal St Northridge game? Been to a UCLA Arizona game in AZ? A friend of mine that played at UCLA with very blond hair was playing at Arizona and being called snow white, blondie, airhead, and all kinds of names from fans. Some college fans are RUTHLESS!

I disagree with going after particular players (such as the pitcher or the error cheers, etc.) but am all for cheering for your own team regardless of the time, situation, whatever. Go for it.

quit comparing your parents to a college game and a college atmosphere.
your parents want to be "in the game"....
it is what it is...they are climbing the fence and intimidating 12 year old girls...
if that's what you need to win, then...it is what it is...

stop rationalizing it by saying "have you ever been to XXX college game?"

Everything the Rebels do is to prepare their players for college so if you don't like the comparison, oh well. The organization is ran based on knowledge and philosophies of getting the girls to the next level because that is what softball should be about (getting your education for free).

If it bothers people to start teaching this early, maybe they should analyze what they are teaching or whether they want to play travel ball or rec ball. There are 8th graders excepting full ride offers right now so the pressure is for real.

Parents are fans and yes, fans are part of the game. So what. It amazes me that people would complain about such petty stuff. That speaks volumes. What do you think the College World Series sounds like when you are standing in the middle of 15,000 fans? If they want to play there, it starts NOW. Prepare NOW.

Lastly, parents, nor coaches, nor cheers win games. The girls do and the only way to stop the cheering off the field is on the field. I know this to be true.

I assume you have seen these parents climbing on fences and intimidating 12 year olds. this is absolutely unacceptable. I agree with you! this team is horrible, how does asa allow this.

nope.. we did watch the first couple of innings in your deep left field while we were warming up for the 14u game on the adjacent field...and then during our game i remember thinking wow, that other game sounds exciting...

again, i'm sure your team is really, really good, but please, please, stop comparing it to watching a college game...

As you can see, I don't live on heybucket as some. My bad. I'll add that to my things to do list, lol. And nobody has said a word about how good our team is but people not associated with our team; we are comparing a situation in 12under to a situation in college. Different level, same exact thing.

this is a good team...someone is rationalizing it's ok to intimidate a 12 yr old kid...in fact, they said it makes them feel like they are part of the team...they are comparing the chants to a college game...so i am stating my opinion that it's not...

if you knew me, you would know that my attitude is the farthest thing from "almighty"...

False, NOBODY from the Rebel organization would accept intimidating young girls. We said cheering for your own team should not be an issue and we believe that along with many others.

In one of the games we played this weekend, there was a team jumping up and down on the fences (clanking the chain link, screaming rock the pitcher every pitch for like an inning). How is that different? Is that intimidating that pitcher? Is it different because the kids are saying it and not the parents?

Either way, to me, it is all cheering and at the end of the day, it shouldn't be intimidating. There will be a lot of intimidating and pressure situations ahead of these girls in softball and life so in a way, we are helping them all become stronger.

I think loud cheering parents are awesome. Wish ours were. Whats wrong with loud cheering? Did I miss something here?

Rebels have a GREAT group of parents who support not only their own daughter but the whole team. You will hear each parent cheer for each player, and the Rebel chant is just one way they support the girls. Period. That is all it is about..nothing else, they are not trying to upset anyone. I really am surprise how fast some people jump on here to do nothing but put down a team that has done well the following weekend. Can't we not just say congrats and move on?

Well when you down play it like that, it should be laid to rest. The reason it HAS gone on is because the parents involved posted that they do it to be "part of the game" and to help "swing the momentum". That rubbed some people the wrong way, so now you say thats NOT why they do the "rebel chant". Whatev, its just softball, do what you want. People laugh AT it and roll their eyes. To me its like that one loud crazy rec mom with all the childish cheers; " Holy Cow, that was FOUL MOOOOO've it over!" Holy Sheep, that was CHEAP, BAAAA'ck it up!", Holy Monkey that was FUNKY, SWIIIING it over". You guys will grow out of it and one day look back at some younger team and think, "wow, did we really do that?".

Grow out of it..LOL Just to let you know I have been in girls softball for over 25 years now! Parents like to have fun, no matter what age group. From T ball thru College.

Swinging the tide is part of the game, I believe every cheer that is done at the fields are done to get your girls up and excited for the game. Don't you think so?
