Love the game wrote:I agree firecracrackers are top team with amazing coaching. But it does help when you get players from 3 of the top 10u teams from last year. Crunch, franchise and AA. Hard not to be the top team. Those girls were well coached Going into this season. They will be hard to beat.

Second not sure how Murrieta impact is getting lots of talk they only played in 1 friendly and really didn't do a whole lot. Must be the parents talking.

Just goes to show that the best coaches are the best recruiters...

They don't have to recruit....

Smart parents know where the good coaches are and given the chance(new team...tryouts) will be the first to show up...

No recruiting... Wow, you've got a lot to learn...

Yea ...you're right..

I am sure the coaches were knocking down the parents doors of those 10 year olds...
offering signing bonus's of Hannah Montana CD's...!!
And hot cocoa on cold days...?

How about the fact that the parents just recognized that they are great coaches and know how to coach....?
But thanks for straightening me out on that...

Greetings from a Marriott somewhere in Southern, CA...

Just wanted to add some of my comments while waiting for family members to get ready :)

Comments on the top 6:

1. Firecrackers 100% unanimous ranked at #1. THE team to beat.

2. Extremely close between Anderson and OCBB. Another vote or two and it really could've been flipped. I consider them a tie really although OCBB just had a few more points to get a slight edge. Based on performance that I have seen especially recently, it really is that close on the field as well. Good job to the pollsters.

3. Don't count out Breeze and Watley. There was a batch of 4-5 polls that had them ranked at #10 and #11 and hurt their points. While I don't agree with them being ranked that low, had those 4-5 polls been more in the range of 4-5th, it would've been extremely close between OCBB, Anderson, Watley, and Breeze and I didn't know which way it was going to wind up in the end until all votes were counted.

4. Small chink in the Jynx armour. Quite a few votes had Jynx 4th and 5th and even a couple barely in the top 10. Some general comments was that Jynx is #2 when their #1 pitcher is pitching but can lose to any top 20 team without her such as losing to Prime Time Elite. But they are still generally way ahead of 3-6 and had a strong #2 ranking.

Comments on 7-9:

1. Again, I think the pollsters got this right where right now, Power Surge, Revolution, Knuckle Up round up the batch behind the top 6. I could see one of these teams being #6 and Breeze down here as well. Overall this is what I would've expected.

Comments on 10-13:

1. A couple of surprises as the pollster gods favored Bombers despite the few rambling of having a couple of 98's and goes to show even a late addition can be voted on objectively and added if they need to be added. This is one team that was below my radar and are now on my radar.

2. Corona Eliminators seemed to impress a few people as they actually moved up from my previous generous debut ranking and with a 4.2 point average means someone voted for them on almost every poll.

3. Another surprise to see USA Athletics make the poll as they are a newer team but they are have gotten good buzz with solid coaching and with a solid organization and being selective with player selection.

4. Valley Tribe is about where I thought they would be.

Comments on 14-16:

1. Several teams on the cusp and could be top 10 or top 12 but have a lot of room to improve upon. These are teams that at least got more votes than ranked 17-20 on average. Based on points and points average, one can make the argument to draw the line at 1-16 making SM Blaze at the very bottom and they did not seem to get impressive points at all despite some positive chatter about this team.

Comments on 17-20:

1. These are teams that barely averaged 1 point per poll and depending on how the late winter turns up, might not be included in the next poll if we cut off at 1-16.

2. Interesting to see Strike Force 00 make the Top 20 with significant points over Strike Force 99 and some general comments about Strike Force 99 being a total mess.

When I return, like I mentioned before, I will update each team with 2-4 pithy and unpithy comments offered by the pollsters and some other team info such as websites etc.

Thanks again.

Hey Dude,
Heard this about two weeks ago? Wondering if you've heard anything from the Bleachers? Is there talk that RY from Watley may end up taking a 2000' team going into 2010 instead of a 99' team?

Thanks for taking the time to conduct this pre season poll,

Although most of the top teams are where they should be, the middle and bottom have some time to prove that they can be contenders at States. Some of the teams had some generous votes based on their organization Name and not on the team. (Eliminators, Power Surge, USA Athletics, Revolution) Based off what I have seen in the last couple months it will be the top 5 teams and then everyone else, with exception to a couple underated teams (the Boise States and TCU's of the worlds). Watch out in May for my sleepers: Bombers, Knuckle Up, SM Blaze. All are new teams but I have seen them all and they have the talent to shock the Texans and Alabama's of the world. (Nice to compare to college football because the pre-season poll is nothing like the way it turns out, besides the top 3 or 4 teams every year.)

Good luck to everyone, like to see some others give there thoughts,

What are the major tournaments in 2010 for the 10U?

FC Mothers Day will be draw a great team base this year, looking forward to that one.

I have not heard anything like that. However, several pollsters commented that Watley may be losing 2-3 players come January 1. I have seen no advertisements about a new 10U 99/00 team forming or any advertisements from Watley or RY looking for new players.

Ok, sorry for being a few days late.

I updated page 1 with the team's websites and previous rankings vs. current and movement up/down +/-.

I also added up to 4 comments for teams from pollsters. Some I hardly had any and listed what I could. Top5 teams had the most comments and needless to say, bottom teams had the least.

Please do not shoot the messenger, MY ONLY COMMENT was on Strike Force 2000 indicating they are the only 2000 team ranked. Comments are from the 20 qualified pollsters I accepted which generally made up of 10U coaches and managers.

I understand there are more tournaments this weekend and if someone wants to post results I might do some minor tweaks to the rankings which I will take the liberty of doing until March 1 which we will then have updated polls monthly.

Enjoy your top 20 10U in Southern California. Good luck to everyone and don't forget to encourage your girls and make the 2010 year a positive experience for these girls.

Happy Holidays to everyone !!!
