First off, I agree with the earlier comment....change your log-in name. You don't want to be perceived as bitter throughout your daughter's travel ball career. With that being said, your post was well written and right on point.....welcome to travel softball! Now you can see how girls (and parents) can get burned out after a while. It is very important for you and your daughter to find the right fit as far as a team in order to keep your sanity. The team does not necessarily need to be a "name" team, just find one where the coach believes in your kid, she gets playing time and she gets along with her teammates and you get along with the other parents. The rest will take care of itself. I can tell you first hand the consequences of not finding the right team. My DD just "retired" from the sport after making 18 Gold as a 14 year old and being recruited by 3 D1 schools. She simply got tired of all of the drama between the girls, coaches who have hidden agenda's and the politics and favoritism that now surrounds this sport. I cannot say that I blame her at all. High school (she played varsity as a freshman) was even worse. It's largely due to the fact that she did not find the right team until the very end. Lastly, don't do this just for the scholarship. The fact is, unless you are a pitcher or a catcher, you are looking at 30-50% money your first year....at best. If you prove yourself that first year (especially with your stick) that can increase. What I am saying is, make sure your DD REALLY likes this sport before committing to travel ball. Even if you find the right team, there will be a lot of "noise" that you and her will have to deal with. If she just likes the sport the drama will be hard to deal with. If she LOVES the sport it will be much easier to handle.
