Norcalgold, no ones arguing that batting 12-14 girls is a good idea. The problem is carrying 16 girls on a team. You said it yourself "some girls will get more PT than others". There in lies the problem. Your inviting unwanted parent drama, unhappy players whom you may lose due to lack of PT, and you force yourself to micromanage your team in order to appease everyone. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

So what is keeping the parents from moving their kid from the 14+ player team to another team,? Are the DDs complaining?

If NORCALGOLD has any affiliation with a top 18G team, 1- he does not pay attn to "parent drama", 2- if there is any "parent drama" that affects the team, that kid is gonezo in a heartbeat!

A true 18G team is different than any other age group, it is a business, of which showcases young girls to play at next level. There is no time for anything else. Sure I dont agree with the numbers but its part of it and you either deal with it or find something else for DD to do. Do i agree with 16 girls at 14's to play friendlies/tournaments/championship play, hell no, if your DD is a pitcher or avg at best position player steer clear of that team, bottom line.

I guess it would depend on each family. For me that would not be a good fit. At 12u and 14u I look for a team that carries no more the 12 players.

Very well said....12 or maybe 13 players at the most for 12U and 14U....Pitchers should have a secondary position at this age as well....The pitchers on our team get regular time at another spot......Granted, our roster is small at 11 players currently but will hopefully reach 12 soon but these girls are all softball players and should get some regular work at a secondary spot in 12's and 14's for sure......JMHO for what it's worth.....

5 full time pitchers means a lot of sit time for those girls.....I like 3 or 4 pitchers at this age level.....If each girl "GETS A GAME" during a 3 game friendly that means you will have 2 girls that don't play at all.......Doesn't make sense to me....
