okay so heres the situation:
the batter swings, third pitch strike, ball in the dirt, runner on 1st steals and the catcher blocks the ball and throws it down to second. the runner who stole is safe. the girl who struck out ran to first. would the runner on first be safe or out anyways because the bag was occupied?

2 outs have to go after hitter, no or 1 out base is occupied

With fewer than 2 outs and first base occupied, the dropped third strike rule does not apply and B1 is out. R1 is free to attempt steal at own risk and catcher could turn this into a strikeout/throwout double play.

If there are 2 outs, dropped third strike is still in play even if first base is occupied. The catcher has a choice of going after R1 or throwing to first base for the third out. Hopefully the catcher would realize the higher percentage play and throw to first base.

Hi,

Occupied means occupied at time of pitch (TOP), so the steal is irrelevant.

The only item relevant is the number of outs. So your OP cannot be answered unless we know the number of outs.

Less than 2 outs - cannot advance on an uncaught 3K with 1B occupied TOP.
