Un-reported re-entry

Rule question? Get it answered here.

Happened in Hemet this past weekend. Position player (not the DP or flex) was substituted for with a pinch runner and was not re-entered prior to her next at bat a couple of innings later. I thought this fell under the illegal substitution rule and would result in disqualification but the umpires ruled it as unannounced re-entry, recorded her as out following safely reaching base, and, re-entered her on the line-up card. Does all of this sound right and where can I find the distinction in the rule book?

Thanks.

I think it depends on which team reported the illegal sub. Look in Rule 4, section 6, a-f.

Speaking ASA

4.6.C.3.

It is an unreported substitute. If this was ASA, the umpires are correct.
