Get a little note book to keep in your car, write down beginning mileage and end mileage for each umpiring assignment along with the date and locationg you went to. For expenses, could just get a file folder and put any reciepts you get in it until tax time comes around. My quickbooks has headings to enter expenses under so I just pull that info at the end of the year.

I keep an Excel spreadsheet with columns for the date, meals, mileage, uniforms/supplies, misc expenses (parking, etc.) and game fees earned.

I keep a copy of the spreadsheet on my blackberry and enter the information as I go. I synch it with the copy on my computer from time to time. At the end of the year, I total all of the columns and hand it to my accountant. I also keep all of the receipts as a backup.

I find it is much easier to track it as you go than to try to pull everything together at tax time.
