Anomaly.

So, when you have a back stop jumping up and blocking your view of the corner ... you may tell her she needs to stay down if she wants that call ... if you can't see it hit the corner you may call a ball instead of a strike ... Hmmm? What do you do if they ignore your request?
So, if the catcher ignores you...you call every pitch a ball?

Most likely. If a catcher shifts or pops up while the pitch is in flight to the point of blocking my view, that is going to be a ball if there was no contact or attempt to hit it. I'm certainly not goin to give the benefit of any doubt to the team which caused the issue.
AFA the batter blocking you, don't see how that can happen without being hit by the ball. That doesn't mean it is going to be a strike if you cannot track the ball, but at some point, the catcher is going to receive that ball in front of you. If it is close, it is most likely going to be a strike.
Much like fielders who believe it is more important for them to get a good look at a ball down the line then it is for the umpire. Yeah, it looks fair....still fair...okay, hear comes the line....and it is.......WHAT THE HELL IS #17 DOING THERE?......fair ball is going to be the signal.
Coach: But blue, that ball landed 6" foul.
Umpire: May have coach, but I didn't see it land foul.
Coach: How could you miss that? What the hell did you see?
Umpire: I saw the #17 on the back of your third baseman. Last I had a visual on the ball, it was over fair territory, that makes it a fair ball.
