we must not have had the bad strike zone umps, just the illegal pitch one. a few calls on steals i thought went against us, but i always think that...

We had a blue the first game and called a bunch of illegal pitches on the Power Surge 94 pitcher.
He said that after she got the signal her hands never came to a stop or something like that. One illegal pitch after another. It was getting old we just wanted to play.

Didn't know that your hands had to stop. I thought they just had to come together for at least 1 second. I'll have to go find my rule book.

I believe the issue was the pitcher's hands being together when she stepped onto the pitching rubber.

One things for sure - you can never tell by the title if the thread is going to be whining about calling IP's or whining about not calling IPs.

I would bet most of them were illegal. Its just the first big tourney post HS season... so the 14s were doing all their illegal stuff and getting called on it.

Thats just a guess by what I see when HS first ends.

Why do you put your replies above the quoted responses? It's like trying to read backward.

And I'm pretty sure if a girl intentionally throws an elbow, it doesn't matter what she weighs, where the defensive player is, if she has the ball or not, or which umpire sees it.

Throw an elbow, pack your gear.

As for Lancaster, the umpires were pretty decent. Obviously didn't get to see every call or every game, but the ones we had were consistent, kept control of the game, weren't afraid to ask for help when appropriate, hustled to their spots, knew the rules, etc.

Again..

Some threads are whimpering about umps not calling IPs and some are about them calling IPs

Same thing here- some threads are complaining about umps not going for help and some are obviously complaining about them going for help.

Maybe the BU saw something the PU didnt.. or maybe they both talked it out and decided on the call - dont know - wasnt there.

Bottom line - its bone head base running.

Focus on that - nats are in a month.

Forget the umpiring, you got work to do.

How about the MG vs TNL game on Sunday? Play at the plate and runner is called safe with ump standing right over play. It was close so, as expected, some parents/coaches complain (prolly something most would do). Plate ump listens to them and walks out to field ump who is in right/center and, from what I understand, was able to see the play better than via his bionic Steven Austin eye. Runner is now out. I would understand if plate ump was shielded or something, but he was two feet away with clear view.

Ahhhh well...such is life.
