This seems an example of an excessive extreme of an otherwise legal activity in softball and that is intentionally delaying the game and he will absolutely immediately stop it. There is no excuse for that, that is why there is a 1st base coach - to tell them they are out. I'm not going to allow you to disrupt the game with goofball antics.

This is not to say that running after 3k is an illegal activity. When it gets to be excessive though to the point of intentionally delaying the game, like running around and rounding a bag and playing cat mouse .. except there aint no cat - we are all standing there looking at you cuz everyone on earth knows she is out, including you, we will be having a very short chat.

And agreed, when it goes to the extent of making it a joke about rounding the bag vs. running down the line, then back to the dugout, then yes, the intent would be fairly clear on what the BR is doing and after the 2nd or 3rd one, the girl and coach can continue running to the parking lot. Unless the girl is REALLY SLOW, don't know how this delays the game. Next batter is moving up to the box. Team on defense does around the horn and by the time the catcher pats the pitcher on the butt, gets back to her position and has her next sign/passes it on, the girl is in the dugout with her helmet on the bench and getting a drink of water.

If it happened so many times in the game that it pissed you off, your pitcher must be K machine, which would be a good thing. If it is 10 or 12U, as someone else said it's probably just a standard dropped third strike reminder.

That's a little extreme. I think the rounding is definitely taking it too far, but I'd rather fire all the coaches that let the girls hang their head after a strike out and mope back the dugout even when they had a chance to advance to first base on a dropped third strike, I see that way more than I see kids running on a dropped third strike when it's occupied with less than 2 outs.

Girls should definitely be taught to be aware of the game situation, but If I had to choose, I would rather have girls always running to first on strike three, rather than never running on strike three.

Which is exactly what this Coach, or Coaches are trying to drive home ( although somewhat extreme ) ... I have found myself scrutinized over teaching techniques that I have employed as well ... Sometimes you just gotta go with what works ...

I think we are going to start making our girls do it on every third strike, and if it isnt a dropped third strike the first base coach can just point to the foul pole and they can sprint out touch the pole and jog back to the dugout...

Why not just have them continue around the outfield fence, stop at the concession stand and pick up a couple weinies & a soft drink - then jog back
