ARIZONA 14U RANKINGS/NEWS/TOURNEYS

by Smiley » Tue Sep 28, 2010 3:08 pm

This ranking thing at 14U is going to be very tough until after HS ball. The top 96 teams will not play 14U until after school ball, and the top 97s will mostly be competing against weaker 96s or 12Us playing up. Which is stronger: a 96 team that loses in a 16U tournament or a 97 team that dominates a weak 14U tournament? There really is no way to tell. It may the first 14U qualifier before we know anything. The good news is that means we all can post our opinions, the people who think their team is the best can bash the opinions they don't like, and we all can have fun.

I read TAZ batted from the opposite side this past weekend, and still won easily.

I think you still have to go with the 96 teams. They have the experience and their players are more seasoned and prepared for the battle.

Team Arizona with their big run at ASA natls at the end of the summer may be one of the top 97 teams but I think that when it comes time to play the big dog 96 teams it is not going to be that tough a decision as to who the better team is. It is one thing to play the weaker A's and B's and do well but when it comes time to play the top tier A teams of 14u it could get ugly real fast.

I think the porposed move to 43ft for pitchers is also going to significantly impact the 97's making it more difficult for them to compete with the 96's.

you guys are hillarious. I think the pitchers & catchers swapped positions also.

Looks pretty right on to me, DT Blue not to sure of and Hotshots 96 are high to me based on their only tournament and getting beat up on pretty good. Any truth to the rumor that they had a shakeup. I think Team AZ should be up a little higher based on their pickups and play so far. But still early and lots of time for teams to move up or down.

Great rankings! I think this is a great start. I agree I think 96 Hotshots are too high. Was there a shakeup???? This team just didn't look like the 96 Hotshots team from before. I think the 4 97s in the mix are definately the strongest 97s around. Team AZ is great. CM Cobras had a good showing in Vegas. Same with Scramblers. 96 AZtecs have a great group and excellent coaching. Cats 96 have really stepped it all. Its only fall but playing up is really going to benefit the girls when it counts. DT 96 are always good. They are playing 18s in the cactus slapped we'll see how they do!
