The top 96 teams will not play 14U until after school ball, and the top 97s will mostly be competing against weaker 96s or 12Us playing up. Which is stronger: a 96 team that loses in a 16U tournament or a 97 team that dominates a weak 14U tournament? There really is no way to tell. It may the first 14U qualifier before we know anything. The good news is that means we all can post our opinions, the people who think their team is the best can bash the opinions they don't like, and we all can have fun.
I think you still have to go with the 96 teams. They have the experience and their players are more seasoned and prepared for the battle.
Team Arizona with their big run at ASA natls at the end of the summer may be one of the top 97 teams but I think that when it comes time to play the big dog 96 teams it is not going to be that tough a decision as to who the better team is. It is one thing to play the weaker A's and B's and do well but when it comes time to play the top tier A teams of 14u it could get ugly real fast.
I think the porposed move to 43ft for pitchers is also going to significantly impact the 97's making it more difficult for them to compete with the 96's.
you guys are hillarious. I think the pitchers & catchers swapped positions also.
