Its a shame and bullcrap when a new poster on HB asks a question and their responses are, "go find another sport" and "you need to check yourself'.
I would like new members to be able to post and get real answers to old questions, with that HB slice of humor.
Sure there will be questions that were posted way back, but let them start new conversations and threads on the topic,
Instead they get run off on their first post, rather than help guide them into and through the game.
For example if someone said it's a nice day for the beach, some members would start quoting the drowning statistics, or shark attacks or traffic and parking problems.
What I am trying to say is,,if you love the sport, why not help.
This travelball competition is rough, and the players are getting better. there are those that will take advantage, why not let those who inquire understand how to navigate correctly, let them post and have positive results.
Maybe they will share with others who will come on here.
Don't ear the ones that stray into here,,let them bring the heard and then you can feast.

Not normal? fanatical? How and in what way?
This is the age (11yrs) you start lessons to learn how to play better and become competitive.
Not all coaches know how to coach kids to get better. They teach a team. For individuals who are attempting to get that place on the field, I say yes. To get on the better teams I say yes.
She has one more year of 12u and then 14u where believe it or not, college coaches may show up.
As a parent you do not want your kid to be a payer and not a player.
Also at 11yrs old you suggest that she can make the decisions, and knows what's best for them. Who runs this family?
I do agree on ask first and weigh out options.

Yes, general agility training for an 11year old is a good thing.
Do you honestly think the PE class at school sufficient? No really. It's you who suggests other sports. Why not a class that develops all the core muscles. You are less likely to get injured with a tone fit body.
There are coaches that see an athlete, why not help her have that look. It also gives scores and numbers to work with or how a kid improves. These are positive things show when people see you. (how you hold yourself)
Kool-Aid is served at some barbecues. Try some, this is YOUR glass.

The fact that you can't see txat you are recommending fanatical solutions for a 11 year old child is telling and sad. Who cares if college coaches are watching at 14U? You want to put her one scholarship dream factory at that ripe old age.... For what? This kid lives in a little town in the farm belt of California.

Being a parent involves making important decisions for our kids....who they can hang out with....making them do their homework......not making them take softball as a job at 11 years old. This is her decision initially and hers alone. She gets to quit when she wants. Not wanting to practice is her way of communicating her wishes to her parents.

I used to argue for the same crap you are and I don't even want to accept that I gave similar bad advice when I was extremely ignorant of the ramifications of that advice.

I think you are a great person and I hope that the same thing doesn't happen to you. The softball industry continues to prey on these unwitting parents and their kids.
