SHOULD TRAVEL BALL TEAMS BE ALLOWED IN REC BALL TOURNEYS

What's on your mind?

by softballcrazyfan » Tue Dec 09, 2014 9:35 pm

SO I GO TO MY NIECE'S SOFTBALL GAME WHICH IS THE WEST COVINA GIRLS REC LEAGUE TOYS FOR TOTS THIS PAST WEEKEND AND I SEE A BATBUSTER TEAM LARA PLAYING IN THIS REC BALL TOURNAMENT AND OF COURSE THEY KICK EVERYONE'S BUTT AS EXPECTED BUT WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE THEY DOING IN A TOURNAMENT LIKE THIS. THEY WERE SO EXCITED LIKE THEY JUST WON A NATIONAL TITLE HOW SHAMEFUL IS THAT TO STEAL THE SPOTLIGHT FOR GIRLS THAT ARE PLAYING REC BALL..

Normally I would side with you, but the tournament said this in capital letters:

OPEN TO ALL TEAMS AND ORGANIZATION TYPES

Next time don't play in a mixed tournament or find one that is rec only. Also the team won the 18u division. Must have been a mix of high school and travel teams.

Huh... Shame on BB-Lara. Really a rec ball(mixed or whatever) tourney? Are they really that hungry for a trophy?

Hey we're there any Firecracker teams? LOL

Buyer beware if the Tournament doesn't say REC ONLY NO TRAVEL TEAMS then you better expect Travel teams... Some of those Toys for Tots tourneys are pretty loose on their rules even for "Rec Ball" teams... I.E. pulling girls from other teams within the same city or even girls from other cities... Or allowing girls to play down if they are eligible from the prior Spring... Those tourneys are a free-for-all about who is going to build the best team to take home the trophy...

As I recall, this and other Toys for Tots Christmas tournaments have been open to all teams for several years.

And on top of that, if someone wants the trophy that bad, TrophiesAreUs.Com will get you a nice one for about $30 and then you dont have to get all sweaty and dirty.

The way I look at it is It's a Toy 4 Tot's tourney. This one extra team brought in possibly 20 extra toys for a good cause. Isn't that what is All about.. Merry Christmas..

The way I look at it is... There are several different TFT's tourneys. Some competitive some not so much. Find one with your similar talent pool and donate your 20 or so gifts then.

Goal still should be good softball or maybe I'm just weird and expect a bit more from a travel organization. Especially if the goal is to develope and help DD's get to the next level. Atleast if your a Batbuster, SCA, CA, Explosion, Bandit and so on.

Pretty simple but I guess not. Like I said whatever...

Bottom line and experienced coach should know what tournaments are competitive and which ones are not maybe they are a new bat buster team and don't know the ropes yet. Can't blame the girls they will play wherever you take them to play. Coaches should use better judgment on where they're taking the girls to play especially with a top name organization like the O.C. Batbusters and no there was not a FireCracker team on the schedule. (They know better)

Looks like three things happened here.
(1) This batbuster team did a good thing by participating in a charity tourney.
(2) Batbusters went on Christmas break on a high happy note.
(3) Batbusters promoted their team name and introduced the Rec. girls to TB. Right now some of those girls are asking their parents"what is TB?" or those Rec. dads are thinking that their dd should be a batbuster because their dd is d best.
I see further, because I stand on the shoulders of giants
