Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.
Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill (1874-1965)

Every young lady is obviously different. I've seen some be done with the game during college - they basically just put in the time on the field to retain their scholly money. They are probably relieved when it ends. I've seen some who want to continue participating after they graduate and attempt to do so.

My kid loved competing until the last out of her final game. I posted the link showing her last post game interview where she was shaking a bit she was so upset that she was done playing. Ever since, that feeling has steadily eroded to the point that now, I seriously doubt she would play another college season if given the chance. She is quite over it. The only time she'll ever be on the field again is either coaching her daughter (if/when she has one) or at a company picnic.

How will all the HB kids feel? Really tough to predict but most will have some really nice memories that other young women will never have and maybe not even be able to relate to. And I strongly suspect that transcends level of play or team ranking.

Not ground breaking insight. No typical douche beggary. Just an observation.

DD1 is starting her final year of college ball - it crossed my mine a few times to wonder how she felt. About a month ago, before the first pre-season tournaments started, she said, "You know what sucks, Dad ? - this is my last year of college ball. Its going to really suck , I love all of this so much." She has had to climb a few hills along the way, like a lot of kids, and I was more than a little surprised. She is 23 years old - started playing like most of yalls kids, when she was 7. I said, "Sweetheart, this the 16th year we have been watching you play - you're not tired of it ?" She said, "No, its just so awesome to be out on that field."

JR, thats why we need to enjoy every inning while its happening. Does anyone know what non-softball families do with all their spare time?

I have golf clubs and fishing gear that have been long ignored. I used to really enjoy fishing and playing golf.

Both will see some attention once the DD is either off to college or hangs up her spikes.
