Must have had my head in sand for years on this one.. Why? What is gained by this?
I don't mean to be naive, why not play up in rec.? Just asking,,,,seems weird to me.

It's strictly for monster players to prepare for college recruiting at 10U...

In Texas, many people call themselves a travel ball team because they travel to play a couple of tournaments. It is not the all-encompassing commitment that is often required in CA.

They practice 1 or 2 times a week, if possible, and then they go play. They do not have “mandatory” meeting or practice day, and it is not the end of the world if someone doesn’t come back for the next practice or game. You simply get enough kids together who want to play a particular weekend, and you go play. The only fees required are your share of the entry fee for tournaments you play in.

When you live in towns of under 20,000 people, rec. is not a very good option.

That is very true. Rather than travel ball, TB would stand more for "Tournament Ball". But of course, that's probably beyond comprehension for Cali folks. After all, that's 2 more years to develop 5 pitches by the age of 12 so overuse can be blamed on games played.

Yep. Its called 10U Nationals but there are no 9-10 year olds playing. They will be playing in the new ASA 16 Gold Division.
