Emailing College Coaches

How often are you emailing college coaches?

The organization we are with says, email, email, email, email. You send an introductory email at the beginning of the season with a little bit about yourself, profile, video, and season schedule. Then before any tournament/showcase you send a reminder and detailed schedule of that particular tournament and ask them to come watch you. Then if you know someone from that school attended a game you send a 'thank you' email with in two days.

Too much? Just right?

I feel like at this rate I could just be annoying college coaches.

Spot on. That IS what needs to happen. Let's add to that.
A general email is good. A personal email is great! The squeekey wheel gets the grease.
You are emailing a person, not a thing. Make it sale, make it real, make her do some.
Canvassing is fine, but you may be surprised that her immature writings get a larger response, rather than a parents mature resume.
And yes! acknowledge that they attended! It is how you start a relationship or conversation.

PS Keep it short, sweet and to the point. Ask!!!! Do you need, this. (a hitter, pitcher, catcher,ect. this grad year?)
You see if you ask a question rather than a resume, they are more apt to respond.

Over all, I agree.

We had DDs doing the VAST majority of them, although I don't think we were ever sending more than 25-ish. With the services that you can send 100s or 1,000s of emails, personalization seems to me to be out the window.

We did some boiler plate schedule / fields emails on behalf of DDs when papers were due or finals were upon us. Just don't send those out at 10:30 am on a week day. Those emails go out with date/time stamps on them - pretty obvious that mom /dad are sending them.

Top 3-5 schools you probably know what's going on but check their web sites & add "nice win against xyz" or "tough loss to abc" or player x's blog is fun to read.

I would start by emailing all the coaches and you can ask them if you should keep sending to all or anyone in particular.

Finally, we had the one page "resume" the got emailed out. Only updated/resent with team change, number change, SAT or ACT scores available. We did also send a hard copy to top schools with a hand written note.

Finally, you have to go on all the web sites and fill out the on line questionnaires. Can't be very interested if you don't do that.
