Why Moderate Important Topics?

What's on your mind?

by #32 » Thu Oct 17, 2013 11:01 pm

I am bothered to see certain threads that discuss very serious issues regarding our dd's removed time and time again. I realize the "bomb" dropped is extremely fluid and touches on a very sensitive topic but a forum should be used to discuss facts and find ways to look for ways to determine if we can detect if other coaches or adults are preying on our children? What has been accused of a 40 year old male who was trusted by parents and children in our community is beyond sick and this blog is the forum to discuss such issues!!

GenPop is too good for what is being accused. But it is a good start!!

Hey Bucket is professional and popular blog where we can share and learn, thank you for that forum. But taking donations makes this blog all the members? We need to share information on the sickness that is in this sport? Not moderate? Free speech; every person is responsible for the posts they post? Slander lawsuits don't include blog sites where members are posting thoughts. The individual is liable.

Are we trying to protect the club? Rumor has it this individual has been running around with players mothers for years? People knew this? Sad. He takes $$ from mothers and fathers and than commits adultery with the wife? If true, so sad. Is this a sign we can look at and be concerned about other behavior? Maybe? Maybe not? I would like to hear from all concerned moms and dads? Before this is removed.

Mr Moderator, sorry if I upset you. I am just wanting to understand what signs we can look for in the future?

I pray for all the kids affected by this situation if it is true.

I know it's not popular but I feel the same way. I actually think moderating subjects like this hurts the individuals in question even more because people are guessing at what happened and not dealing with hard facts.......just hearsay....this is why you end up hearing so many different versions of the truth.

I don't want to hang anyone unless its their day. but I do believe members should have a voice weather it's popular or not. If someone gets out of line slap their hand and suspend them from posting or kick em off. But if we can have intelligent conversations about something as serious as this i think it's good for the SB community....most importantly our daughters. It helps keep us vigilant and maybe, just maybe, it might make people think twice about their actions if they know their peers are watching closely and they have a voice with such a great site like the bucket.

Truly hoping it's all a giant misunderstanding

#32, I would hope that our small softball community would share this type of knowledge with others through direct communication if they knew these things to be true. I don't know any parents who would knowingly put their kids on teams where they know the coach is a creep with a history, or seemingly poor or questionable judgement, no matter how elite the organization or team.

As parents, we have to listen to our instincts, teach our kids how to listen to theirs, preach and enforce transparency with our kids and those who come into contact with them, and not lose trust in people because of a few very bad people.

No doubt it's very tough to decide, i guess my only comment would be when there are peoples kids involved and trusted advisers/mentors have been accused i don't want to be the last to know. This is a very good reason to belong to an online softball community....so we can protect and react quickly....circle the wagons

Once again i am not making any accusations assumptions or otherwise, i sincerely hope it's all rumor and BS.

My issue is centered more around the debate of us being able to discuss it or not. Not whether or not someone did something as it is brought up in this situation but more how do we handle it when it comes up....? is not speaking about it and giving people a chance to discuss it providing some sort of protection from public persecution...? Probably ....but something definitely happened that most likely deserves conversation.

I'm done and truly truly hope its not true.....its just bad for the game we all love

In the end, nothing will happen anyway. There are lots of bad actors coaching that we ALL know about.....and people continue to take their kids to them. Some have even been charged for alledged illegal conduct.....to no avail.

People are either righteously indignant, purposely ignorant, or victims of the Cleopatra Complex (Queen of Denial). There are enough psycho parents out there to keep these sick bastards employed.

Having been watching these threads this last week I would just like to give you all some food for thought.

Why Moderate Important Topics?
Because when the discussion gets out of hand it does not benefit the community, it only fuels the fire.
Look at many of the posts here: In your own posts you say things like "rumor has it," "I'm guessing…" etc. For those of us who claim to be Christians or even just good people, the best policy is that if you have an issue with someone you go to that person directly. If you have not done that then you should not be posting maybes and I heards anywhere.

As far as protecting our DD's which of course we all want to do, what would you do differently than you should be doing to begin with? Are you dropping your DD off for the coach to babysit or are you actually being the parent and observing the practices and games?

If the person involved is not coaching now then what benefit is there in warning others about the person coaching?

Hardly a month goes by lately where we don't see a report on the network news about a coach or a teacher who is violating the trust put in them. It is a tragic situation.

The last time I checked we claim to be a society that believes that a person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. So as was posted before, if someone in a position of authority wants to post an official statement then I would be interested in seeing that information.

I personally choose to support the Bucket and Numero Uno has the right to remove a thread that is causing a bigger problem than it is solving. I've seen this on Eteamz as well where even in a situation that only involves how a game was played that people have hurled insults and trash talk and even threats. Where is the benefit?

I suggest we pray for all involved. There are innocent people being hurt by this who have no involvement or control of this situation. Whether you realize it or not, and whether what you post is true or not, it hurts these people as much or more. Please consider that as well.
You cannot make a positive impact with a negative mind!

Why does this forum make exceptions for certain people? I saw a inland empire pitching instructor get bashed for something similar for months. A San Diego coach also as well as a selected group of coaches. Why only them? If it was an issue to the individual why wouldn't he come on here and clear the air......

Some people are crucified on this forum (San Diego Coach) for doing LESS than what was done in this case...and, yes, I know the truth. I just don't understand why some are "protected" while others are crucified. What's fair for one should be fair for all. :?: :?: :?:

That SD coach was not found not guilty. The jury deadlocked and a mistrial was declared.
