So my 13 dd is in her first year of school ball(modified). She said that the coach told her he will not let her throw anyhting but fastballs. WHAT WHAT WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!! How the heck is she supposed to be effective throwing ONLY fastballs? wow unreal!!!! this guy is a momo

You're talking about a modified program, which is little more than a glorified rec. program. (Actually....in some instances modified may be a step down)

It may not be the coaches decision. If I remember correctly, there is no stealing at the modified level either.

Don't be so quick to blame the coach.

yah, modified is a joke. my 4 yr old is better than some of these girls! thank god for travel/recruited ball. Electric City Bombers!!!!

Well, then as Coach11 pointed out ... you may be the momo if your DD's Coach is just enforcing the rules for Modified ... unless he has other momo like qualities which you have not shared ...

yeah there are a bunch of other momo qualities he has, but i didnt include them.

maybe you guys are right though, maybe it's not his decision, i didnt think of that.

Don't expect much until you get to the varsity level.....and even then, keep your expectations low.

I believe there are currenntly 36 girls on our local modified team. They split them up into squads and play alternate games.

Damn.....that's 18 girls on each game roster!

Imagine having to coach that?

Sometimes coaches only call certain pitches because that is all the pitcher is capable of doing. I love throwing inside, and if I have a pitcher capable of doing so, I will give a heavy dose of screw balls.

Next game, different pitcher, she cant throw a screw for nothing, so i dont call it. And dont ask me how they are supposed to get better at it if I dont call it.

They get better at pitching practice and with dad during the week. It better be at least respectable come game time. Missing by a mile over and over again means she just doesnt have that pitch.
