Players are a mystery. And ideas?

What's on your mind?

by tonythecoach » Sat Feb 09, 2013 7:48 am

He all,

Been trying different ways to get players to come out and check out our team each year. We are not one of the handful of really "elite" teams, but we are a good program. Tried tryout section here and others. Very little turnout. What gives? Can I not write a good "ad"? Am I looking in the wrong places? Anyone that has had success, please lend a hand with your comments. Thanks.

Not sure where you play or if you're ASA, USSSA, etc. Have you tried their websites or tried to contact them for help? We are in a small town and rely on the girls to get the word out at school.

You registered your HB account 8 minutes prior to making this post. You have two posts, and neither of them is a tryout ad. Where are the tryout ads that you say you have posted in the past?

I look for a try-out post that has relevant info.
Most importantly, where they are based and where practices are held.
It also helps to have what types of tournaments they plan to play(TCS, PGF, etc).
Have been looking at a lot of them lately as my daughter has been injured and is almost ready to go back.
I am surprised by all the posts that don't included the area they play in, the only hint is an area code sometimes, for SoCal there are so many places to play.

I also think that our area is so saturated with teams that there just aren't enough players to go around..

Offer higher salaries. Talent goes where the money is.

Around here, seems, where pitcher X and Y are going are the 'draws'...And if you cant make team XY...or maybe Z...or don't like team XY or maybe Z, people tend to gravitate to those teams...which is understandable...in a way I hate that...cause maybe lil Janie cant play team XY or Z level yet...but she'll never get the chance...

Write a check to Tony Rico so you can call yourself FC - (insert your name here). Parents will stand in line to pay you $150 a month for Susie to wear the uniform, even if she never plays.
