I've noticed that a few of the orgs are picking up teams like crazy and then making the teams use their facilities. Aren't all TB org's NON profit? why are they pushing to add just any old team?

Some orgs believe in quantity over quality. They feel that more teams make for greater name recognition.

No and just because a group is non profit does not mean they don't make money. It just means they spend what they make.

Although there are always "profiteers" in our midst,in most case the real numbers(after expenses) really do not add to enough for one to enrich themselves. I would think that many of the consolidation are due to taking advantages of economies of scale. A bigger org has leverage in ordering uniforms, equip, fields etc- as well as a "brand name" for marketing their players
Some may be turned off by this, but it obviously seems to work. Besides, if you don't like it, there is certainly a plethora of options out there.

Aren't all TB org's NON profit?
No. There is no rule that youth sports must be non-profit.
AND
While an organization may be non-profit this does not prohibit members of the organization from drawing salaries.

I am not on the inside of this whole machine, by my DDs choice three years ago, however...
It appears to me that in the entire country there are fewer than 20 coaches in Gold that actually make at least decent money (let's call that School Teacher money) coaching a travel team, with less than 10 in 16U, 10 in 14U, maybe 8 in 12U, and none in 10U. That leaves about over 200 head coaches in each age division who could make more money not taking off from work early, or it actually costs them money to coach vs. the money they could have made working extra hours at their real job.
