Smoking arounf your players

My dd's team was at a friendly this past weekend out in Palmdale. While watching games i notice some coach's who were smoking around there players while they were warming up. Since when does ASA or anybody else allow smoking next to any players at any age? The one coach was smoking while pitching soft toss.

Some cities do not allow it in parks.

True, but it all depends what city and what you are smoking.....

Friendlies are usually unsanctioned, so there isn't any protection from a governing body. If it was at a school, they are typically tobacco-free zones.

I looked up "tobacco" in ASA Code for grins...

- Umpires may not smoke or use tobacco like products on the playing field. This includes but is not limited to chewing, dipping and spitting.

- The use of any tobacco products is prohibited at all Junior Olympic Tournaments.

Don't smoke and would never let my daughter play on a team with coaches that smoke.

Completely unacceptable!! I have never seen a city public park that is not tobacco free. You need to address this issue, as it probably happens at practice also.
