New to TB ....cost????$$$

Hey there...new to Hey Bucket and to travel ball .....could someone please give me an idea of the cost for travel ball? My DD is 2nd year 12u and in southern california. I know there are many travel ball organizations in this area and she has been approached by a few. But I can never see what the cost of the team is from their websites. Any info would be great and I realize they will and do vary

Team costs definitely vary, but expect a one time, non-refundable, $250-$400 start up fee(typically includes bag, helmet & jerseys) and then anywhere from $75(low end) to $200 per month fee. On top of that add a weekly hitting lesson(which most teams expect your DD to be doing) and pitching/catching lesson(if applicable) and possibly a fielding lesson. Don't forget you'll be driving A LOT, so add for gas and hotel rooms when you travel away. You'll easily spend $5,000/year and as your DD gets older and starts traveling out of state, you'll likely spend $8,000-$15,000 per year. Enjoy the ride.

Before TB, I spent a lot of time and money on my stuff, mostly fishing. My brother-in-law, before TB, spent a lot on deer hunting, leases, guns, for me , kayaks, etc. We both have our girls in college and are wiping the spider webs and dust off of our hunting and fishing stuff. All fish on the texas coast, beware. Deer - wherever brother-in-law hunts - beware.

Its a switch of priorities for awhile - the fish will always be there, the girls wont.

Wow! dont know what teams you've been playing for but we paid about that much for 18G. Hitting lesson every week give me a break I can see every other week. At 12U you should be paying around $100 a month in dues and the good thing for you is being in So Cal so all the competetion is here and no need to really venture off to other states unless your going to nationals. Just beware that some of these teams coaches do this for a living so they live off of telling players that they need lessons every week. You will learn these lessons on your own and in our case I always had my DD lessons outside of the organization because to me it's who she felt comfortable hitting with not who it was.

It is an amazing thing. Since We have had a coupe weeks off, I too put my rods in my hand and got a dang blister. LOL. One more summer of TB, then while she in college, I too shall regain the blisters I once had for ripping lips on the coast. I leave the deer hunting to my wife. She's more mad at them than I am.

I don't think most urban or suburban folks understand how much damage deer can do to a garden, or backyard crops. Bambi isn't the first thought that comes to mind when surveying the devastation.
