Looking for some help with one. Have been told yes and no that ipads or note books are not allowed on fields by base coaches perfetly fine in dugout. any help out ther. Thanks

If it is being used as a score keeping device, it is legal and the base coach can be using it. Otherwise any electronic device is not to be on the field or the dugout, including cell phones.

I get told every game that as long as it doesnt go to my ear it is fine. I use and iPhone

Phone doesnt need to go to your ear to send or receive texts.

ASA rule supplement 11 Communication/Electronic Devices

Communications / electronic devices , including audio / video equipment are not allowed on the playing field or in the dugouts. Head phones and ear phones have been used by coaches to communicat from one coache's box to the other, to communicate between coaches and the dugout, and from the stands to the dugout. Signs and signals have been stolen while outside the field of play, stands, or outfield area and communicated to coaches or players. Therefore, umpires must prohibit any use of such equipment . Electronic scorebooks, however, are permitted for use by basecoaches.

Where is that in the book was told today by ump that it can not be on field but ok in dug out. What Iam looking for is for H.S. play.

FED 3-6-11 Electronic communication devices, television monitors and/or replay equipment shall not be used for coaching purposes during the course of the game.
