Switching from rubber cleats to metal - tips ? Warnings?

What's on your mind?

by DonnieS » Fri Jan 11, 2008 10:55 am

My older dd just got her new metal cleats - we got her the low cut Ringors. Pretty aggressive cleats compared to what I was expecting. She did her evening workout in them. Any tips or things to watch out for? I read about a kid who stuck their metal cleat in the dirt and twisted and tore their ACL - I read that today - the cleats came in yesterday. She is freakishly fast - and a big kid - 5 foot 7 and 150 lbs.

Well, I know that for me I tend to walk with my toes pointed out. Sometimes my ankles hit eachother. I know that when I was younger my ankles would get torn up from that problem. I can see that with metal cleats if you are not used to them.

HS coach said she used them and took some getting use to. She said that when you do your shuffle step/side to side steps, you sometimes get your self. She said she just cut up a pair of socks and doubled them up to keep the cleat from breaking the skin.

So, does anyone know for sure if they can be used in CIF-SS?

Sorry to steal your post.
