It borders on sick...getting excited about this stuff. Even if you don't think its sick, its not even close to a prediction of how good players are at this age....nor how good they will be when they are older. In fact, kids playing travel at this age are much more susceptible to overuse injuries than their rec ball counterparts.

Case in point: 2001 ASA 10U Nationals

Best pitcher in the Nation....pitched very little in HS, incurring arm injuries, not playing any more...no college softball scholarship. She threw 58mph as a 10U pitcher.

Pitcher on 5th place team: Shoulder injury, not pitching...no college softball scholarship. Pitched a 1-0 one-hitter in 5th place game at 10U Nationals.

I'm sure there are many, many more.

Sounds like you're trolling for somebody to name your own kid....just put her out there and wow us with her 10U stats....start filling out her college profile right now.....

Sam,

As I remember, when I asked about the appropriate age to leave rec for TB your reply was 2nd year 12u. Would that apply to TB everywhere on all levels or mainly the typical socal, ultra competetive team with nationals aspirations? I'm considering getting my rising 12u DD into a B level TB team this fall. Thanks,

Dusty

Dusty,

Depends on the number of games/practices/personal instruction you are exposing her to....its the overuse and repetitive actions that are causing injuries in many of these young ladies. If the B team plays 40 games a year, practices once a week, and DD is doing a pitching lesson once a month...it might be OK.

Mine played 180 games at the 10U division, praticed 3 times per week, hitting lessons every week and pitching lessons every week.

Sam, if you don't give a crap, just press on to the next thread and leave it be. It takes alot less energy to be positive. I think its great to see such talented kids at any level. If there parents don't control how much they play at that age, its on them. Have a nice day!!
