New CIF rule

I have heard that CIF has a new rule that HS coaches who also coach TB (when out of HS season) can now have their HS players on their TB teams even when school is in, i.e. fall / winter. (I guess technically they eliminated the rule that prohibited HS players from playing with their coach on TB teams during school)

Does anyone know more about this? Wondering how it might affect the current landscape of HS / TB?

I have also heard of this recent new ruling and confirmed it in a conversation with a HS BB coach. The way it was explained to me is HS teams can now play/practice year round. Supposedly, this new rule will prevent "cheating" by some coaches. My concern is that HS coaches will require HS eligible player to play for "their" travel team if they want to play in HS.

Don't know if that is possible, but I certainly hope not. Would like to hear what the tenured parents and coaches think about this ruling.

Wouldn't this further the divide of HS vs TB? Not only could there be untold stories of coercion, but the conflict in schedules if they are allowed to play year round would be huge.

I think that most HS coaches should participate (not coach) on their player's TB team...now wouldn't that be a sight to see!

I wouldn't want the HS coaches around. We would spend to much time trying to explain how the game of softball is actually played.

What are you suggesting, that some HS coaches can read?

What I'm wondering is how many high school coaches will now venture into TB?

I also wonder, frequently, why girls play HS at all, if TB is so much better at preparing them for college ball? Are TB teams required to go dark during high school season?
