How much practice is enough?
How much practice is not enough?
IMO you should ramp up practice pre-season incrementally, go hard just before season, stay hard on a light game schedule, and maintenance/ tune-up practice on busy tournament schedule.
Definitely want to prevent injuries, exhaustion and burnout, but practices should challenge, motivate and condition players for long battle games, harsh environments, and less than ideal conditions (wet fields, bad calls, extreme hot & cold weather, etc.)
