What's on your mind?

Thanks for the reply when you did not have to. I do think this is a great thing, and I know you have to start somewhere. It would be a boring world if we all agreed on everything.

Much respect for you and what you are trying to accomplish.

I think the list has grown, I know of another Gold team (Top 10) finish @ Nationals that has accecpted Mr. Hannings invite. My kid will not be playing (unless there is a 23u) But you can bet your a$$ that we will be there watching.

Sure sounds like a National to me...........

First I would like to say that I have enjoyed this forum since its inception, and yet never felt the need to comment until now. Regarding the post made by Wonderdog24, I can tell you that an invited non California team is already letting people know of their invitation to premiere in their tryouts. So, I question the credibility of your statement.

The team my daughter plays on goes to the other Surf City showcases, and my husband and daughter say they are great. I’m sure this will be top notch all the way around. I worry though about the teams like my daughters who are not consistently at that level. Her team has beaten several of the teams on the list, but they are not in the same class. Therefore, I do not expect that they will be on the final list. Maybe they will qualify.

My biggest concern is having the two divisions separated (if I am understanding this correctly). To me that is the same as ASA having 18A and 18 Gold. Why go watch the unworthy of invitation also-ran teams when the best of the best will only be paired up against each other? How many of the invited teams will even still have many uncommitted players by August anyway? I hope that when further details come out next week this issue is addressed in more detail.

As far as the money thing is concerned to those who just don’t understand what has been repeatedly said about it, give it a rest already . If they ever make any money for it, this year, next year, in 10 years, who cares? Live and let live people need to make a living don’t they?
Peace, MrsMom

Name a coach you have emailed, produce the email, it is easy to do.

I personally have talked with every coach on the posted list and a few others and every one has told me they will send a team, the best team if there are two, to HB.

Yes my team did poorly, how am I helping that by trying to be sure we invite all of the best teams in the country first?

I don't know who you are you if you have ever run a tournament but the costs of everything planned for this tournament will far exceed the revenue all of the income that will come. If we can get some sponsors, if we can get some breaks from the cities, maybe we can break even.If we do earn something for a year of work and provide a top notch event for the teams and spectators, so what. Do you actually thing ASA does not make money on their 164 team 16U tournament and the others? It is none of your business but 20% of anything we do make, if we make anything will go to a scholarship fund or a registered charity, we are deciding between breast cancer and and one of the groups that are trying to help the despicable situation in Africa.

There will be no gate passes required, no cost whatsoever to come watch a game. Sound to you like we are out to make a fortune?

My name is on every thing I write, who are you? What credibility do you have with screen name and anon comments?

Maybe you should just post what all of the costs/expenses are versus all of the revenue. That should quiet this kind of talk.

My main burning question I have is why, if this is such an all important issue all of sudden (college players) has this issue not even made it out of the JO committee for a vote?

The representation was made that those not involved were holding it back.. but apparently, it never even made it to the floor for a vote by the ASA.

Representations of ASA are made in this thread, by a lot of people who dont know how ASA works, but the reality there is a very democratic type process in ASA for handling issues.

If you guys couldnt even get it out of your own JO FP Committee, how is that "ASA"s fault? Thats your people on that committee.

Maybe this college issue wasnt the big deal previously that its being made out to be...

I can't speak for everyone that wanted this tournament but for me it is not just about college players. It's about all the things ASA ignores us on. College players are only one issue. I think the length of the tournament is a bigger issue and the ridiculous ace certification was just the last slap in the face. I guess their message to us is that we must be the minority. So if we are and everyone else is happy than let's just see what happens. We obviously think change is needed and been in need for a few years and they don't. Someone took it upon themselves to do something about it. If you don't think it is a great idea than stat with what your doing but don't try and trash what someone else is doing or their motives, again we all have a choice now. You make yours and let others make theirs. I know my team is in and has been looking for something like this for a few years now as have many of these teams. So for those who don't believe those other teams are in you will soon find out. This is a good thing one way or another no matter how it turns out.

If the commitee is dominated by non Region 14 reps, it may never see the light of day. I don' t know if that is the case....but I'm just sayin....

Well said, Tommy....the ACE certification was THE most ridiculous thing they have come up with.
