DD Being Forced to Change her Number, might leave team!

What's on your mind?

Skarp, I think you missed Lannie's post on page 2.

HS Softball
- Same jerseys year after year
- two girls want the same number
- Larger girl gets the number and smaller jersey
- Jersey makes Larger girls look funny and play poorly
- Larger girl only wanted number so the smaller girl could not wear it
The secret to happiness is a Good Sense of Humor and a Bad Memory.

Why wouldn't this same argument be applied to the people joining her team? In other words, if they don't get their way, they'll take their pole barn and go home. What next, my child hits 3rd AND plays SS? I'm absolutely amazed that people elect to attack instead of realizing that the issue is much more than one young player keeping her number. I absolutely agree that this team is in big trouble regardless of whether this young lady stays or goes. Now, if I have a bigger pole barn, can my DD be the #1 pitcher? (FYI, I have my own pole barn! LOL!)

Exactly where did you see that the "pole barn" parents said anything about leaving and taking their pole barn with them? They didn't. The ORGANIZATION decided what was best for all the teams. It was an easy decision, it was obviously weighed, and they made the correct decision. Who said the TEAM was in trouble? The Organization/Team made a decision based upon the greater good, not an individual's ego. The Organizations/Teams that do get in trouble are the ones who value individual player needs over the team's. I would make the same decision 100 times over for the benefit of the team. If a kid thinks of leaving my team over a number, I don't want them anyway. Those are the kids who don't bunt when you ask them to because they are such good hitters....they are the kids who refuse to play in the OF....those are the kids with parents who ruin the season for all the good parents. Its a numeric symbol to assist in identifying the player...nothing more, nothing less.

Yep...did miss that one. And I'd be sharing a few giggles myself under those circumstances. I did think that post was out of character for Lannie--notwithstanding the 20,000 words he has thus far devoted to bodily excretions on this site. Errr...make that 20,004 with that manpon post.

I had to google it. Which isn't to say that I'm not twisted--just a little slow.

Or maybe you have an impaired "since" of humor. :D

I can take the impaired sense of humor. Hey, we only go around once and life is to short to be wearing a manpon all the time. I guess my philosphy is I find humor in the ignorance of people. Like for instance. You see a poor smuck walking down the street. He isnt aware of his surroundings. There is a large puddle of water between him and the traffic lane.
A. Do you swerve to miss the puddle?
B. Teach the smuck to pay attention to details and send a tidal wave of putrid water on him?

I always chose B.

The question is does that say more about you or the poor schmuck?
