I live in the heart of Hispanic food and hadn't heard of a walking taco, either. It must just be a name that some one made up. Like the horseshoes in Springfield IL.

That said, my slow pitch coach sold Navajo tacos and beer at her husband's slow pitch games and made enough money to sponsor us for the last 18 months. (And yes, there was a concession stand - but they can't serve beer. I asked how she did that and she said "donation.")

Commonly refered to as a "Frito Chilli pie" around here (without the tomatoes, onions, sour cream and sometimes cheese).

Where is the "heart of Hispanic food"? I work in West Dallas so I would challenge you on that.......... of course we have Mexican, not "Hispanic", food there, if you can't order in border spanish you may not get what you asked for.......

You get real mexican food here in SoCal...around Dallas....you get Tex-Mex.

Fajita's, Chile Con Carne, Chile Con Queso, Cabrito, and Barbacoa. all Tex-Mex, I'll take it over black beans on top of plain beef any day. I have eaten in SoCal though.... good food as well. Next time your in Texas stay away from "On the Border" and "El Chico" and all the other tourist/transplant traps.

Donnie you are closer to the border....as am I....than the poster I was replying to...who was from Dallas. The mexicans that make the authentic mexican food here are fresh out of a delivery truck wheel well. Wait till the Stimulus package hits out here in SoCal...all the illegal construction workers will be back to work while the union guys draw unemployment.

Not from Dallas, just work there, live closer to Ft. Worth. Lived in the RG Valley, grew up in S. Texas. I know what Mexican food is, and we have it in D/FW you just need to follow Donnie S's guidelines to find it, hole in the wall restaurants are where to look.

...also the food out in the peoples republic of california is also very tasty, I like it, but it aint mexican food.

I have never eaten a meal in California, I was never willing to take the chance that the food there is cause of what makes California so liberal
