What To Wear To High School Games

What's on your mind?

by 3Bsnag » Wed Jan 21, 2009 2:49 pm

Or it can happen the other way around...

Last summer my DD went to her high school camp decked out in her travel team colors, from hair bow to laces. When you wear that shade of red, white, and blue around here, everyone knows what team you play for.

It was extremely cheesy and I was a little embarrassed for her. She just thought it was funny.

Back in the day ... had this guy on our Adult Rec team ... he was probably 15 years removed from his senior year and still wore his lettermans jacket ... haven't seen him in a coons age but I bet he is still wearing it and maybe to his DD's or DS's games ....

Ok here in the Northeast we wear anything warm - we have at least one or two snow games per year. I come straight from work so I have coats blankets hats and gloves in the trunk. One year we had a player get hypothermia. We don't so much worry about fashion - everyone looks equally crummy....

The clothing issue is harmless enough. However, don't you hate that dad wearing the travel ball stuff who sits with his cronies telling everyone else how dominating his dd's team is, as opposed to all the teams the other girls play for, how during the summer she dominates the competition in the circle and how badly the HS team/coach/fields... suck while at the same time, this stud's dd has given up 7 earned in the first.

We have one of those at my DD high school and it's funny because I never see his kid pitching in any games but she wears her TB team gear to practice and school almost everyday. My DD chose to wear school gear because her teammates already know where she plays and don't need to be reminded everyday. I will be showing up to games in my work clothes so having to choose what to wear is not an issue. :D

Season hasn't even started, and we've already been required to buy three different spirit t-shirts as "fundraisers" for the booster club. Ridiculous!

Takes a lot of money to do high school softball. We are playing 2 out of town tournaments, so hotels for 12 kids and their coaches, uniforms, travel money for the season games, hopefully the playoffs. Our fundraisers are the softball girls are running the concession stands during basketball season for the girls basketball games, we are selling one-liners on the softball banner i.e. "Go girls - all the way (from Granny and Pop)" type of thing for $20 a piece, each girl is asked to sell 10 of those, also of course the team spirit shirts. Tough for multi-sport kids, but thats life in the fast lane.
