Anderson Bat Q & A

What's on your mind?

We do have a small D1 college presence and if you look hard you can find us but the D1 schools require additional $$ of five or six figures along with free equipment. We don't believe a paid presence is any indication of the quality of a product. We've been approached by many D1 schools but we don't feel like that's the best use of our budget. I'd rather give twelve D2, D3, NAIA or JC programs or twenty-four HS programs equipment than to make a single D1 program a highly paid promotional vehicle that is obviously available to the highest bidder rather than a program looking for the best equipment.

Maybe that will change when we are no longer a little David in a battle with a whole industry of Goliaths and we have lots of promotional $$ to burn.

I do see your point, but also see the other side as well. The blue Catalyst was a huge hit. A very good bat, but put in the hands of #26 for Team USA and it's a major money maker. Arizona hits with a black Nike bat, and ebay goes crazy selling crappy Nike bats. Have a veteran heybucketeer with a kid that produces with a ping-pong paddle, and all the 10U parents buy their kid a ping-pong paddle. ;)

If I was in your shoes, I would be doing the same as you are doing. I had no idea it was that much money (not product) to sponsor big DI.

And yet , in a poll of my biggest dealers those bats you mentioned don't show up on a list of the best selling bats. Especially Nike. There does not seem to be a correlation to the bat sponsor of the WCWS and overall annual bat sales. The correlation to D1 sponsorship seems to be very regional and while the regional markets are important it appears the national market actually does tend to give the nod to some tangible specifics including real performance, perceived performance and appearance. A classy, competitive, well coached, and well traveled travel-ball program has a bigger national impact than any regional college team. D1 schools are an easy investment. Give them their money and equipment and you seldom hear from them and you get what you pay for, a regional presence. A good travel-ball program has far more problems, most of those coming from off the field rather than on it and the problems rarely come from the players. but the upside potential for both the program and the sponsor is much better. I guess the question is, who do you love?

OK - went to DD and asked her what she thought about swinging the Nanotek versus her 09 RT - she said the Nanotek was "awesome", that she still likes the 09 RT but will be using the Nanotek. DD has swung DeMarinis and Eastons in the past, but the Anderson bats will be the only ones in the bag from now on.

From a parent's point of view, all I know is that pitchers better be excellent fielders when pitching against someone swinging the Nanotek. The pitcher the other night had no chance on the ball DD hit straight up the middle - the ball was by her before she even got into fielding position.

Is the nanotech an endloaded bat like the rockettech? From what I have read it seem to be balanced weighted, not sure if I am just missing it. Any user reviews for this bat would be appreciated.

The NanoTek FP is a true -10 bat. Most players prefer and are advised to move up an ounce from what they normally swing because the weight is positioned closer to the hands and it "feels" like it swings much lighter.

You can read a couple of reviews at notorioussports.com. There are more pending as well and should be posted within the next few days. I anticipate there will be even more posted next week.

Any more reviews on the Nanotek?

I just received my daughters in the mail yesterday and she couldn't wait to try it out...but she decided after swinging it that she needed one a little heavier. So we now we have to wait for the replacement ;/

Just curious. Did you order a size heavier than her usual size?

Originally no. I wish I had seen your post before I ordered. She is 13 about 5'6, 125 lbs and usually swings a 32 but have sent it back to get a 33.

Yes that is unfortunate. I am hoping I wasn't your retailer  as I have advised everyone who has inquired about the bat before purchasing to move up an ounce.

No it wasn't you, after I ordered I remembered seeing the thread about getting good deals on Anderson bats and wished I had placed the order with you. I'm paying an extra 20 to have it overnighted ;/ I was going back and fourth between the Easton speed or the nanotek and when I decided I just did a search for nanotek. No one on either of her teams have heard of this bat yet so I'm hoping it was the right choice! I've been watching this thread since around thanksgiving and waited till it had a few reviews but still anxious to hear more. And to try it out, hopefully it will be here tomorrow before we leave for her first high school tournament.

If she's 5'6" it's time to move to a 33" anyway.
