Suzy Softball decides to leave ABC Gold and go to 123 Gold Team because they WILL attend Gold Nationals.
Can she go as a pick up player?
Or as a new rostered player due to the fact the ABC Gold Team is done with ASA Championship play?
Or I would assume she can go to another team attending the PGF event since both of these teams will not be participating in ASA Championship play (Gold Nats) and are NOW not bound by ASA player contract obligations.
Just curious the feedback on this. Feel free to correct if I am missing something.
As long as original team has concluded ASA play, she can go as a pick-up player with a team from the same region as the original.
From 2009 ASA Code:
Article 503 PICK-UP PLAYERS.
A. General Rule. All teams are permitted to pick-up three players as follows:
01. The team adding pick-up players must select eligible roster members from
ASA registered teams in the team’s own local association.
EXCEPTION: All men’s and women’s fast pitch divisions, Junior Olympic
Boy’s Fast Pitch and Junior Olympic Gold Girls’ 18-Under Fast Pitch. Pickup
players may come from teams within the region that are no longer eligible for
championship play. Pick-up players will not be allowed after the National
Championship Finals for the National Championship Series.
